A method of performing an operation in a wellbore includes performing the operation in the wellbore from a rig; and, while performing the operation, repeatedly: inputting one or more predicted values from a model of the wellbore; inputting one or more measured parameters from one or more sensors of the rig; calculating a deviation of each measured parameter from a respective predicted value; applying a weighting factor to each calculated deviation to obtain a respective alert level; calculating a rate of change of each measured parameter from a parameter previously measured by the respective sensor; applying a weighting factor to each calculated rate of change to obtain a respective alert level; and adding the alert levels and dividing the sum thereof by a maximum alert level to obtain a stuck pipe risk.

Real-time stuck pipe warning system for downhole operations

Downhole drilling vibration analysis uses acceleration data measured in three orthogonal axes downhole while drilling to determine whether drilling assembly's efficiency has fallen to a point where the assembly needs to be pulled. In real or near real time, a downhole tool calculates impulse in at least one direction using the measured acceleration data over an acquisition period and determines whether the calculated impulse exceeds a predetermined acceleration threshold for the acquisition period. If the impulse exceeds the threshold, the tool pulses the impulse data to the surface where the calculated impulse is correlated to efficiency of the assembly as the drillstring is used to drill in real time. Based on the correlation, operators can determine whether to pull the assembly if excessive impulse occurs continuously over a predetermined penetration depth.

Glue dots are deposited on a substrate side of a partially completed printed circuit board, between pairs of component mounting pads disposed on the substrate and having quantities of solder paste thereon, using a resilient stencil plate having a spaced series of glue discharge openings extending transversely therethrough, and a spaced series of side recesses. The recess side of stencil plate is positioned in a spaced, parallel and opposing relationship with the mounting pad side of the substrate with the plate recesses being aligned with the substrate mounting pads, and the glue discharge openings being aligned with glue leveling pads disposed on the substrate side between adjacent mounting pad pairs. Glue is deposited on the outer stencil plate side and a squeegee blade is moved along the outer stencil plate side to deflect it toward the substrate and force glue through the discharge openings to deposit glue dots thereon when the stencil plate is permitted to return to its undeflected position. As the plate is deflected, its depressions receive and provide clearance for the mounting pads so as not to disturb the solder paste quantities thereon. Electrical components are then pressed against pairs of mounting pads, and the glue dots therebetween, before being subjected to a final soldering process. In this manner the use of a needle type dispensing machine to deposit the glue dots is advantageously avoided.

An offshore platform structure is disclosed for temporarily using a jack-up rig for well operations in deepwater applications having a bottom founded jacket base which supports a surface tower which extends above the ocean surface and a subsea rig support interface which is adapted to support the jack-up rig for well operations. At least one selectively buoyant rig support buoyancy tank connected to the rig support interface whereby a portion of the temporary load on the jacket base in supporting the jack-up rig for drilling operations may be alleviated.

An offshore platform structure is disclosed for temporarily using a jack-up rig for well operations in deepwater applications in which a jacket base supports a surface tower and a subsea rig support interface adapted to accept the jack-up rig for well operations. The bottom founded jacket base is designed for dynamic response with the mass of the jack-up engaged and at least one ballastable rig support buoyancy tank connected to the rig support interface whereby the weight of the jack-up rig is substantially offset by buoyant forces supplied by the rig support buoyancy tank when the jack-up rig is deployed on the jacket base and the mass of the jack-up rig is substantially replaced in the offshore platform structure by ballast in the rig support buoyancy tank when the jack-up rig is removed.
