Systems and methods are provided for calibrating computed tomography (CT) system. In one example, a method for a computed tomography (CT) system comprises, during a calibration of the CT system, measuring a position of a detector element of a detector array of the CT system using a wire of a wire phantom coupled to a table of the CT system, during a rotational scan performed using the CT system; and during a subsequent scan performed on a subject using the CT system, applying the measured position of the detector element rather than a design target position of the detector element during reconstruction of an image from projection data acquired via the CT system; and displaying the reconstructed image on a display device of the CT system.

Systems and methods for CT detector calibration using a wire phantom

There is provided an X-ray imaging system having an X-ray source, an X-ray detector and a collimator assembly in the X-ray path between the X-ray source and the X-ray detector. The X-ray detector comprises a plurality of detector modules arranged side-by-side and adapted to be oriented towards the X-ray source, the detector modules being arranged side-by-side along a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction of incoming X-rays. The collimator assembly is based on a plurality of spaced collimator plates arranged side-by-side in a direction coinciding with the direction of the detector modules. The collimator assembly further comprises a physically stabilizing lateral support structure arranged in a lateral plane extending in a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction of incoming X-rays.

Collimator assembly for an X-ray detector

A collimator is provided for reducing aliasing artifacts in images generated in an X-ray imaging system, such as a computed tomography (CT) imaging system. In one embodiment, a collimator comprises a plurality of high attenuating regions interleaved with a plurality of low attenuating regions, with each high attenuating region having a non-uniform transition profile and configured to be aligned with a respective inactive region of a respective channel of an X-ray detector of an X-ray imaging system. In another embodiment, a CT imaging system, comprising an X-ray source configured to project X-rays towards a patient; an X-ray detector configured to receive attenuated X-rays passing through the patient; and a collimator positioned between the patient and the X-ray detector and configured to non-uniformly attenuate the X-rays, the collimator having bell shaped plates, each of the plates separated by a gap.

Collimator structure for an imaging system

Methods and systems are provided for reducing aliasing artifacts in images generated in an imaging system, such as a computed tomography (CT) imaging systems. In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving a filtered signal generated by passing a primary signal through a collimator having a non-rectangular transition profile, the collimator positioned between an object and a detector of an imaging system, and generating an image based on the filtered signal received at the detector, the primary signal including radiation from a source of the imaging system attenuated by the object placed between the source and the detector. In this way, by filtering the signals at the collimator before reaching the detector, aliasing artifacts in the images may be reduced.

The techniques disclosed may be used to detect and correct channel gain errors resulting from X-ray focal spot mis-alignment during the course of a scan. One benefit of the present invention relative to conventional techniques is that additional hardware is not required for detection of focal spot drift. Instead, the static mis-alignment of each blade is taken into account as part of estimating and correcting X-ray focal spot drift or mis-alignment. In this manner, the risk of image artefacts due to focal spot motion is reduced and the need for costly hardware solutions to detect focal spot motion is avoided.

Systems and methods for focal spot motion detection and correction

Various methods and systems are provided for an X-ray imaging system comprising an X-ray source, an X-ray detector array having a plurality of X-ray detecting elements configured to detect X-rays passing through an object configured to be scanned, a plurality of collimator plates positioned between the object to be scanned and the X-ray detector array, wherein one or more of the plurality of collimator plates comprises at least one bend at or in a region of a bottom end of the collimator plate, the bottom end facing the X-ray detecting elements of the X-ray imaging system. The X-ray imaging system may be a CT imaging system or other imaging system that includes an X-ray source and an X-ray detector.

Methods and systems for collimators of a CT detector

A radiation imaging apparatus is provided. The radiation imaging apparatus includes a radiation source configured to emit radiation from a first focal point, a plurality of radiation detecting elements disposed opposite to the radiation source and arranged in a channel direction, a plurality of collimator plates provided along the channel direction so as to separate the radiation detecting elements, the collimator plates including radiation absorption members at surfaces of at least one first collimator plate located on a first end side and at least one second collimator plate located on a second end side such that radiation shielding effects of the first and second collimator plates become substantially equivalent when the surfaces of the first and second collimator plates are located along a radial direction from a second focal point, and a data acquisition unit configured to acquire radiation projection data from the radiation detecting elements.
