A downhole tool control apparatus includes a control assembly, a stroking assembly, and a pocket sleeve positioned in an outer sub. The control assembly and stroking assembly are independently slidable axially within the outer sub. The control assembly and stroking assembly slide depending on the flow rate of fluid through the downhole tool actuator. The stroking assembly includes a spline barrel having a spline projection positioned within a spline pocket formed in the pocket sleeve. The pocket sleeve and control assembly include one or more ratchet teeth positioned in the pocket sleeve such that as the flow rate is changed between a high and a low flow rate, the spline projection engages the ratchet teeth until an actuated cycle is completed, allowing the downhole tool actuator to move to an actuation position.

Downhole tool actuators and indexing mechanisms

A downhole tool includes an outer sub and a mandrel positioned within the outer sub. The outer sub and the mandrel are tubular. The interior of the mandrel defines a bore flow path, and the annular space between the outer sub and the mandrel defines an annular flow path. One or more nozzle ports are formed in the mandrel to fluidly couple the bore flow path and the annular flow path. A nozzle is positioned in each nozzle port. The nozzle includes a nozzle body having a flow path formed therein to fluidly couple the bore flow path to the annular flow path through the nozzle.

Downhole tool with externally adjustable internal flow area

An under-reaming tool comprises a body and a plurality of extendable cutters mounted on the body. The under-reaming tool is configured to be cycled between a first configuration in which the cutters are retracted and a second configuration in which the cutters are movable between retracted and extended positions. The under-reaming tool is configured to prevent extension of the cutters by an external fluid in the first and/or second configuration/s.

Multi cycle downhole tool

An under-reamer comprises a body and extendable cutters mounted on the body. The under-reamer is configured to be cycled between a first configuration in which the cutters are retracted and a second configuration in which the cutters are movable between retracted and extended positions. A control mechanism is provided and is configurable to prevent the under-reamer cycling between the first and second configurations and thus maintain the under-reamer in a selected one of the first and second configurations.

Under-reamer

The disclosure relates to a downhole activation assembly for activating a downhole component of a downhole tool positionable in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation. The activation assembly includes a housing operatively connectable to the downhole tool, a piston slidably positionable in the housing with a chamber defined therebetween, and a valve. The piston has a flow channel therethrough. The valve is positionable about the flow channel of the piston, the valve comprising a fixed plate and a rotatable plate. The rotatable plate is movable about the fixed plate to define a variable bore to selectively restrict flow through the flow channel and to vary pressure about the piston whereby the piston is selectively moved to shift the downhole component between activation positions.

Downhole activation assembly with offset bore and method of using same

An under-reamer includes a body and extendable cutters mounted on the body. The under-reamer is configured to be cycled between a first configuration in which the cutters are retracted and a second configuration in which the cutters are movable between retracted and extended positions. A control mechanism is provided and is configurable to prevent the under-reamer cycling between the first and second configurations and thus maintains the under-reamer in a selected one of the first and second configurations.

Under reamer

A downhole tool comprises a body, radially extendable members mounted to the body and movable between retracted and extended positions, a cam member operatively associated with the extendable members and movable relative to the body to extend the extendable members, and a support member configurable to permit retraction of the extendable members from an extended position. The tool may be an under-reamer, and the extendable members may be cutting blades.
