The communication session may be maintained for a time-out period before entering the non-active mode. Further methods and systems include transitioning to a non-active communication mode in response to detecting a motion of the mobile device corresponding to a user placing the device on a surface.

Systems and methods for group communication using a mobile device with mode depending on user proximity or device position

Methods and systems of communication using a mobile device include communicating with other mobile devices over an initial communication channel, detecting a first motion of the mobile device moving from a first position to a second position, establishing a second communication channel with the other mobile devices in response to the detected first motion, and communicating with the other mobile devices over the second communication channel. In an example, the initial communication may be a half-duplex communication channel, and the second communication channel may be a full-duplex communication channel. Systems, methods, and devices use a wireless device's capability to transmit and/or receive data over multiple communication pathways to improve data transmission quality. Different communication pathways may be established using different antennas of a wireless device, different wireless networks, different wireless communications protocols, and/or additional wireless devices. The participant computing device may transmit a report message to the user's computing device indicating whether a match is found. In another embodiment, the user's computing device may request contact information from participant computing devices.

In an embodiment, an application server receives, from a given UE, data that is configured to visually represent physical user input detected at the given UE at a first level of precision. The application server determines data presentation capabilities of a target UE and/or a performance level associated with a connection between the application server and the target UE. The application server selectively transitions the received data from the first level of precision to a second level of precision based on the determination, and transmits the selectively transitioned data to the target UE for presentation. In another embodiment, the application server receives a request to adjust display settings of the target UE from the given UE responsive to detected physical user input. The mobile device may decode detected signaling information and identify connectivity data that may be used to join and transmit messages to the communication group. In an embodiment, light and/or sound signals related to unknown third parties may be used by the mobile device to identify the third party based on queries to the communication group. In an embodiment, the mobile device may determine parameters for receiving and/or transmitting signals based on ambient conditions, such as ambient noise.

Systems and methods for group communication using a mobile device with mode transition based on motion

A user equipment (UE) selectively attempts recovery of lost media for a real-time communication session. In an embodiment, the UE detects presence of a lost media packet from another UE participating in the real-time communication session that did not successfully arrive at the UE. The UE evaluates a set of recovery criteria associated with the lost media packet to attempt to dynamically select at least one external source from a plurality of external sources from which the lost media packet can potentially be recovered at different predicted reliabilities and/or response times for attempting recovery of the lost media packet based on the set of recovery criteria. The UE attempts to recover the lost media packet from the selected at least one external source based on the evaluation.

In an embodiment, a communication device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), a server, etc.) determines one or more current parameters associated with an operating environment of the first UE, and then excludes at least one communication mode from one or more available communication modes to produce a set of communication modes by which a second UE is recommended to contact the first UE. In another embodiment, the communication device selectively recommends communication groups to users of UEs with current operational capabilities similar to characteristics of the recommended communication groups. In another embodiment, a server determines that a threshold number or a threshold percentage of group-members of an existing communication group are friends with a set of users that do not yet belong to the existing communication group, and then recommends that the set of users join the existing communication group.

Recommending information associated with a user equipment or a communication group in a communications system

In an embodiment, a given UE joins a local group communication session between a group of UEs, establishes itself as a director, obtains media feeds captured by media capturing UEs in the group of UEs and transmits a selected subset of the media feeds to a server for transmission to target UEs. In another embodiment, the server receives the media feeds itself and sends the media feeds to a director UE. The director UE indicates a selection of the subset of the media feeds to the server, and the server transmits the selected subset of media feeds to the target UEs. Accordingly, a local director UE can direct the subset to the target UEs by controlling which media feeds are sent to the server, or a remote director UE can direct the subset to the target UEs by controlling which media feeds the server sends to the target UEs.
