Systems and methods to control fabrication of an assembly involve a first end sheet having an interior surface and an exterior surface, opposite the interior surface. A system includes interior sheets, the interior sheets including a first interior sheet at one end of a stack of the interior sheets and including a last interior sheet at an opposite end of the stack of the two or more interior sheets, the first interior sheet being adjacent to the interior surface of the first end sheet, and a second end sheet having an interior surface and an exterior surface, opposite the interior surface. The last interior sheet is adjacent to the interior surface of the last end sheet, and the interior surface of the first end sheet or the second end sheet includes venting features, the venting features including holes or slots to channel heat, gas, or vapor during a brazing process.

A swing bed absorption apparatus includes a bed including a bed housing including, an outer surface, an interior chamber, and a flared interior passageway fluidly connecting the interior chamber to an area located outside of the bed. A method of manufacturing a pump inlet housing and filter for a pump assembly, wherein the pump inlet housing and filter are monolithic, the method has the steps of: defining a pump inlet housing as a housing tubular shape with an inlet aperture boundary at a housing top end, and an outlet aperture boundary at a housing bottom end; defining a lattice filter between the inlet and outlet aperture boundaries; and performing an additive manufacturing (AM) process to additively manufacture the pump inlet housing and the lattice filter such that the lattice filter is integral with the pump inlet housing.

A lattice filter for use in an inlet housing of a pump assembly including a lattice filter body extending from a filter inlet end to a filter outlet end. The lattice filter having a lattice structure. The lattice filter also includes one or more passageways within the lattice filter body. Each of the one or more passageways includes a passageway inlet located at the filter inlet end and a passageway outlet located at the filter outlet end. Each of the one or more passageways extend from the passageway inlet to the passageway outlet.

A heat exchanger includes a first fluid inlet, a first fluid outlet, a second fluid inlet, a second fluid outlet, and a core section. The core section includes a plurality of first fluid passages through which a first fluid is flowed, and a plurality of second fluid passages through which a second fluid is flowed to exchange thermal energy with the first fluid. The first fluid passages and the second fluid passages extend non-linearly along a length of the first fluid passages and the second fluid passages between a first core end and a second core end opposite the first core end. A manifold is operably connected to the plurality of first fluid passages. The manifold includes a plurality of lateral passages intersecting the plurality of first fluid passages. The plurality of lateral passages vary in length depending on distance from a fluidly upstream end of the core section.

A fluid manifold includes an inlet comprising an opening into an interior of the fluid manifold, an outlet end that is positioned opposite the inlet and that is in fluid communication with the inlet, a shroud extending between the inlet and the outlet end and surrounding a flow path of the fluid manifold, and a first flow distributor positioned within the interior of the fluid manifold. The first flow distributor includes a hollow body including a first surface at a downstream side of the first flow distributor and a second surface at an upstream side of the first flow distributor, a central cavity defined by the second surface of the hollow body, and openings extending from the first surface to the second surface such that a fluid can pass from the central cavity through the openings. A mating assembly is provided and includes a first mating component, a second mating component, a bolt to bolt first and second mating components together and an alignment pin. The alignment pin aligns the first and second mating components so that the first and second mating components can be bolted together. The alignment pin is configured to yield upon an application of a specified load thereto. A magnitude of the specified load is less than magnitudes of loads expected to be transferred between the first and second mating components through the bolt once bolting is complete.

A flow distributor for a heat transfer device having a plurality of channels includes a sheath defining a plurality of distributor holes, each distributor hole configured to be in fluid communication with a respective channel inlet of each channel of the heat transfer device and an insert defining a plurality of fluid channels therein and a fluid inlet, each fluid channel in fluid communication with the fluid inlet. The insert is disposed within the sheath to seal the fluid channels with each fluid channel in fluid communication with a respective one of the distribution holes. The fluid inlet includes an inner inlet and an outer inlet radially outward from the inner inlet for mixing a fluid flow in the fluid inlet for evenly distributing fluid flow (e.g., a two phase flow) into the fluid channels of the insert and into each channel of the heat transfer device.

A multi-layer heat exchanger includes a fluid layer defined by a first sheet and a second sheet, the fluid layer configured to route a fluid in a predominant flow direction. Also included is a fluid inlet port disposed proximate an inlet end region of the fluid layer, wherein the fluid inlet port is oriented to introduce the fluid into the fluid layer in a direction substantially perpendicular to the predominant flow direction, wherein the inlet end region of the fluid layer comprises a non-linear geometry. Further included is at least one fin segment disposed between the first sheet and the second sheet, wherein the at least one fin segment includes a first plurality of apertures proximate the inlet end region, the at least one fin segment consisting of a single, uniform fin segment.

Disclosed is a tube assembly for a shell and tube heat exchanger, the tube assembly having: a plurality of tubes respectively extending in a lengthwise direction L to a respective plurality of opposing ends at respective opposing internal ends of the heat exchanger, the plurality of tubes being collectively arranged in a first grid pattern, wherein the plurality of tubes form a respective plurality of grid nodes; and a plurality of fins connecting the plurality of tubes to form a respective plurality of grid edges, the plurality of fins extending to opposing ends of the plurality of tubes, wherein the plurality of fins each include a plurality of through holes formed therein.

According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a porous plate is provided. The porous plate includes a body having an upper surface, a lower surface opposite the upper surface and sidewalls extending between respective entireties of the upper surface and the lower surface, the body being formed of porous material, and a metallic coating, which is thermally deposited onto an entirety of the sidewalls to form a high-strength mechanical bond with the entirety of the sidewalls.
