A wire release mechanism for securing an end of a wire during a wire tying cycle. The wire release mechanism may include a wire release portion having an engaging surface and the wire release portion may be movable between an open and closed position.

Wire release mechanism

A multiple strapping device that provides an uninterrupted ejection cycle for a bale while at the same time strategically placing the straps, or wire ties, onto the bale, through use of a series of corkscrews which hold the straps or wire ties and advance the strap, or wire ties, as the corkscrew is rotated therein releasing the strap, or wire ties, onto the bale.

Multiple strapping device

A system and method of using a combination strapping machine including a wire tying system and a plastic tying system is provided. Embodiments of the strapping machine include a common frame coupled to a wire strapping system, a single wire track, a plastic strapping system, and a single plastic track. Some embodiments of the combination strapping machine include a strapping machine frame having a common track perimeter. Further, the strapping machine includes a plastic tying system configured to apply a plastic strap to a baled material, and a wire tying system configured to apply a wire strap to the baled material. Some embodiments of the strapping machine include a common track for the wire tying system and plastic tying system. Some embodiments of the strapping machine include a common frame for the wire tying system and plastic tying system with a non-common track. Other embodiments of the combination strapping machine are controlled by a common control system that coordinates both plastic and wire strapping according to a predetermined order of strap application.

Combination wire and plastic strapping device

A wire release mechanism for securing an end of a wire during a wire tying cycle is provided. The wire release mechanism may secure a first end of a wire around a bale of recycled material during knotting of the wire. The wire release mechanism may include a wire release portion having an engaging surface and the wire release portion may be movable between an open and closed position. The wire release mechanism may further include a gripping arm movable between a first position and a second position and having a retractable surface. The engaging surface may disengage the wire based on movement from the closed position to the open position. Further, the retractable surface may engage against the first end of the wire based on movement from the first position to the second position.

Systems, methods, and user interfaces for controlling a bulk material baling system are provided. One embodiment of the invention relates to a user interface for controlling components of a tying system, providing a wire odometer that determines and displays real-time information on the use of consumables by the tying system, such as an amount of remaining wire. Embodiments of the wire odometer simultaneously monitor and display an amount of remaining wire on a wire carrier, and a corresponding number of straps remaining to be tied by the current wire carrier. Further embodiments of the user interface provide monitoring data and remaining-use expectancy indicators for individual system components. Additional embodiments of the user interface are configured to control various features of components of a combination tying system that straps bailed material with alternate tying heads, providing both wire strapping and plastic strapping capabilities.

Control user interface for tying system

A wire tie assembly and method of tying a wire using the wire tie assembly is provided. Embodiments of the wire tie assembly comprise a gear-train having a main-drive gear continuously driven by a motor, an idler gear having a first and second dwell portions, the idler gear being configured to mesh with the main-drive gear during a portion of the wire-tying cycle and to dwell relative to the main-drive gear during a portion of the wire-tying cycle, and a twister pinion gear having a wire receiving channel and configured to be in mesh with the idler gear during a portion of the wire tying cycle and to dwell relative to the idler gear during a portion of the wire tying cycle. Some embodiments include cam pins coupled to the idler gear and cam followers that engage the cam pins to actuate secondary functions of the wire tying cycle.

Continuous rotary wire tie assembly

A system and method of using a combination strapping machine including a wire tying system and a plastic tying system is provided. Embodiments of the strapping machine include a common frame coupled to a wire strapping system, a single wire track, a plastic strapping system, and a single plastic track. Some embodiments of the combination strapping machine include a strapping machine frame having a common track perimeter. Further, the strapping machine includes a plastic tying system configured to apply a plastic strap to a baled material, and a wire tying system configured to apply a wire strap to the baled material. Some embodiments of the strapping machine include a common track for the wire tying system and plastic tying system. Other embodiments of the combination strapping machine are controlled by a common control system that coordinates both plastic and wire strapping according to a predetermined order of strap application.

A gripping mechanism for securing an end of a wire during tying with a wire tying system is provided. The gripping mechanism may secure a first end of a wire strap around a bale of recycled material during knotting of the wire strap. As such, the gripping mechanism includes a gripping lever having a contact region adjacent the first end of the wire strap. In embodiments, the contact region includes at least one surface feature configured to secure the first end of the wire based on pivoting of the gripping lever. In further embodiments, the contact region of the gripping lever disengages the wire based on rotation of the gripping lever in a first direction. Further, the contact region of the gripping lever may engage against the first end of the wire based on rotation of the griping lever in a second direction, during actuation of the gripping mechanism.

Embodiments of the strapping machine include a common frame coupled to a wire strapping system, a single wire track, a plastic strapping system, and a single plastic track. In some embodiments, the combination strapping machine includes a strapping machine frame having a common track perimeter and a top side. Further, the strapping machine includes a plastic tying system configured to apply a plastic strap to a baled material, and a wire tying system configured to apply a wire strap to the baled material, wherein the track for the wire tying medium is adjacent the track for the plastic tying medium. In some embodiments, the combination strapping machine is controlled by a common interface that coordinates both plastic and wire strapping.
