A coated abrasive article () comprises a backing () having an abrasive coating () on one side, an attachment layer () on the other side of the backing, and a line of weakness () that does not penetrate the front face of the abrasive coating (). The line of weakness, which may be formed using a laser beam, comprises a through-cut () in the attachment layer () and perforations () in the backing (), and permits one part of the abrasive article () to be separated from another part.
