The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods to enable users to access content authorized to other users. A method for accessing content may include receiving an access activation request from a primary device or a primary user account corresponding to a content item accessible by the primary user account, generating an access identifier corresponding to the content item, where the access identifier identifies the content item and includes access information, receiving an access request including the access identifier from a secondary device or a second user account, determining that the access identifier is valid, and delivering the content item to the secondary device.

Secure content access across user accounts

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a request for recording a real-time media presentation of a live event accessible by way of a direct broadcast satellite service, wherein the request is associated with equipment of a subscriber of the direct broadcast satellite service. A source of the real-time media presentation is identified and monitored to determine whether the live event has ended. A termination is facilitated of the recording of the real-time media presentation of the live event by the equipment of the subscriber responsive to the determined end of the real-time media presentation of the live event. A system and method for controlling a mobile device at a headend includes the mobile device communicating a request for content to the headend. The headend requests geographic coordinate location data from the mobile device and, when geographic coordinate data is available, determines a first geographic region associated with the mobile device in response to the geographic coordinate location data. When geographic coordinate data is not available from the mobile device, the headend extracts an IP address from the request and determines a second geographic region based on the IP address and a confidence level. When the confidence level is below a threshold, the headend determines a third geographic region based on subscriber data for the mobile device.
