An extraction system for removing an object from a bore, the extraction system comprising an extraction pole assembly comprising a plurality of extraction poles, each extraction pole having a proximal end and a distal end; and a plurality of centering couplers, each centering coupler of the plurality of centering couplers comprising a partial spherical outer surface sized to complement a diameter of the bore, a proximal end configured to couple to a distal end of an extraction pole, and a distal end configured to couple to a proximal end of the extraction pole. The extraction pole assembly can be operable with a press assembly comprising a clamp configured to secure to the structure having the bore, and an extendable member configured to provide an input force to an extraction pole of the extraction pole assembly.

Extraction pole assembly for extracting projectiles from a bore

A projectile is disclosed, comprising: a body; a fin having a magnet disposed thereon, the fin being coupled to the body, at least a portion of the fin being arranged to: (i) stay inside the body before the projectile is launched, and (ii) exit the body after the projectile is launched; a magnetic sensor disposed within the body, the magnetic sensor being arranged to detect changes in a position of the magnet relative to the magnetic sensor while the fin is exiting the body; and a data recorder disposed within the body, the data recorder being operatively coupled to the magnetic sensor, wherein the data recorder is configured to use the magnetic sensor to collect data indicating a displacement of the fin relative to the body after the projectile is launched.

Method and apparatus for determining projectile fin deployment timeline

Disclosed is an extraction press assembly for facilitating removal of an object from a bore of a structure. The extraction press assembly comprises a coupling mount, a base plate, a support structure, and a press. The coupling mount can be configured to couple to the structure, thus securing the extraction press assembly to the structure. The base plate can be axially spaced from the coupling mount, and can support the press. The support structure can comprise axial extensions coupling the coupling mount to the base plate, and facilitating adjustment of the base plate (and thus the press) relative to the coupling mount. The press can be located between the coupling mount and the base plate and can be configured to expand and contract axially, and to exert a pressing force upon an extraction pole of an extraction pole assembly within the bore, which force is transferred to the object lodged within the bore. The press can be pivotally coupled to the base plate to rotate between a first position for extracting an object and a second position for accessing the bore.

Extraction press assembly for use with bored structures

A sabot is used for enclosing a payload, such as a missile or projectile, during launch. The sabot includes a series of panels that are held together prior to launch by engagement with a cap having protrusions or delay pins that maintain the panels in a closed condition. When the launch is initiated, the cap begins to slide out of engagement with the panels. The cap is configured such that the disengagement does not occur immediately upon movement of the cap; instead the protrusions are sized to delay opening of the panels until the sabot and missile have cleared the launcher. Then the panels rotate outward and drop away from a base the sabot, for example using self-releasing hinges. The base of the sabot may be configured to disengage from the payload by introduction of pressurized gases into a space between the base and an aft end of the missile.

Some embodiments pertain to a projectile that includes a casing and a sensor that is wrapped around the casing. As an example, the sensor may be wrapped around a longitudinal axis of the casing. The sensor obtains environmental data that the projectile is exposed to when the projectile is inside a cannon tube. As an example, the sensor may obtain pressure data that the projectile is exposed to during launch of the projectile when the projectile is inside the cannon tube. The sensor may include a plurality of segments that at least partially surround the casing. In some embodiments, the segments may be separated from the casing due to pressure that the projectile is exposed to during launch.
