A transmission controller for an automatic washing machine incorporates an accelerometer to provide for sophisticated out-of-balance detection. Speed sensing and water moisture sensing may optionally be also incorporated into the transmission controller, the former providing a more sophisticated out-of-balance detection and the latter permitting overflow detection.

In these operable positions, the deck assemblies () can be utilized to transport CooLift pallets (). When the deck assemblies () are in the stored, upright position, the adaptercan be utilized to transport conventional pallets of standards sizes.

An automatic temperature control for a washing machine or the like may adopt in a first embodiment a single triac switched between a hot-water valve and cold-water valve by mechanical switch elements to provide for a range of temperature control via a microprocessor receiving a temperature command input. In a second embodiment two triacs may be used to permit a range of temperature controls to be effected by voltage signals generated by low-voltage low current switches implemented on an integrated circuit board.

A shaft of a rotary switch, for example, useful as a control for an appliance, such as a washing machine, incorporates an LED at the end of the shaft and projecting light laterally from the shaft to provide an indication of the rotary position of the corresponding knob with respect to printed indicia on a console. The LED may be powered by slip rings incorporated into the rotary switch and communicating directly with line power as controlled by the limiting resistor and the shaft may include a controlled breakage feature providing LED conductors that are recessed within the shaft in the event of shaft breakage to reduce the chance of operator contact with line voltage.

A water level control for a washing machine provides an integrated unit that may replace standard mechanical water level controls with a microprocessor-based circuit that may provide for more sophisticated water management in a standard washing machine using a non-microprocessor cycle timer.

Method and apparatus for upgrading washing machine water efficiency

An assembly for mounting a kitchen sink to a counter top provides a sink rim with a substantially horizontally extending bent back wall. A clip assembly for use therewith has a bracket with a grip region defining a horizontal gap sized to fit snugly around an edge of the horizontal wall. The bracket defines a pair of vertical tracks in which vertical extensions of a clamp member can slide. The L-shaped clamp has a generally horizontal hook that can engage the underside of the counter top so as to clamp the sink to the counter top by tightening a threaded fastener.

A sink, and a method of reducing vibration and resulting noise of such sinks, are disclosed. The sink includes a basin, a drain and first and second pads. The basin has a bottom wall, side walls, and inner and outer surfaces of such walls. The drain is in the bottom of the basin, and first and second regions are defined between the drain orifice and the first and second sides, respectively. The pads are attached to the bottom and a side wall, in each case proximate respective midpoints of open regions thereon. The pads are a laminate of a rubber-like material and metal.
