An orthopaedic reamer includes a shell and a cutting tooth arrangement formed in the shell. The cutting tooth arrangement includes a cutting tooth having a predefined profile with a cutting edge having a cutting depth, and a depth-of-cut feature positioned forward of the cutting tooth, relative to a direction of movement of the shell at the location of the cutting tooth. The depth-of-cut feature has a control depth which controls a cutting depth of the cutting tooth during surgery.

A driver for an orthopaedic reamer includes a drive shaft defining an axis of rotation; a reamer connector connected to the drive shaft and having at least one first annular portion about the axis of rotation and at least one second annular portion about the axis of rotation radially spaced from the at least first annular portion to define at least one holding recess therebetween; and a collar associated with the reamer connector and slidable in a direction of the axis of rotation between a first position and a second position, the collar being unaligned with the at least one holding recess circumferentially about the axis of rotation in the first position and, in the second position, being rotatably locked to the reamer connector and having a portion aligned with the at least one holding recess circumferentially about the axis of rotation.

Orthopaedic reamer system

An angular surgical driver including a first rotatable member, a second rotatable member, an angled housing and a plurality of pins. The first rotatable member and second rotatable member are angularly associated with each other. The angled housing is rotatably connected to the first rotatable member and the second rotatable member. A surgical cutter for use as an orthopedic reamer includes a shaft, a head, a modular blade member and a threaded retainer member. The shaft has a shaft end and a shaft bore located in the shaft end, at least a portion of the shaft bore being threaded. The head is coupled with the shaft proximate the shaft end, the head being configured for retaining debris The modular blade member is mounted on the head, the modular blade having a primary blade surface and at least one blade tooth extending from the primary blade surface The primary blade surface is substantially planar, and the modular blade member further has a centrally located blade mounting hole therein. The threaded retainer member extends through the blade mounting hole and operatively mating with the shaft bore, and the threaded retainer member further includes a retainer edge at a distal end thereof. The retainer edge is biased against the primary blade surface proximate the blade mounting hole.

Surgical cutter with modular blades

A tool driver including a shaft having a longitudinal axis and opposite ends. A first partial boss is located at one of the shaft ends, a tool collet at the other of these shaft ends, and a second partial boss having a bore extending therethrough. The second partial boss being positioned on the shaft with the shaft in the bore. There is a stop on the shaft. The second partial boss is slidable on the shaft between the first partial boss and the stop. A spring is positioned between the second partial boss and the stop. The spring urges the second partial boss into engagement with the first partial boss. The first and second partial bosses are complementary to each other and are in engagement with each other defining a bayonet type latch mechanism. The latch mechanism has an axially extending inwardly tapered bore extending from one end coaxially of the shaft into the first and second bosses. The tapered bore being adapted to receive a coaxially located disc of a tool and to be connected to the tool driver within the tapered bore. The tapered bore and the tool disc coaxially centering the tool on the axis of the tool driver.
