A bearing system includes a first bearing ring, a second bearing ring spaced radially outwards from the first bearing ring, and a bearing cage between the first bearing ring and the second bearing ring. The bearing cage includes a circumferential outer side, a circumferential inner side, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced retainer portions between an axially forward end and an axially trailing end. Roller elements are located in the plurality of retainer portions of the bearing cage. At least one fluid nozzle is axially spaced from the bearing cage for dispensing a fluid to the roller elements.

Bearing system and method for lubrication

A bearing system includes an inner ring that surrounds an axis of rotation, an outer ring spaced radially outwards from the inner ring, and a cage that is positioned between the inner and outer rings to support a plurality of bearing elements. The inner ring includes an axial slot that extends in a direction along the axis of rotation. The inner ring also includes at least one radial side slot formed in at least one of a fore and aft end surface of the inner ring. The radial side slot directs lubricating fluid from the axial slot toward the cage to lubricate the plurality of bearing elements.

Bearing system

An inner ring of an under race lubricated bearing assembly that includes an outer surface, an inner surface, and an inner race formed on the outer surface of the inner ring. A plurality of circumferentially spaced axial slots is formed on the inner surface of the inner ring, and a first set of circumferentially spaced partial circumferential slots is formed on the inner surface of the inner ring adjacent a first end of the inner ring. Each partial circumferential slot intersects at least one of the axial slots. The inner ring also includes a first set of radial holes, where each radial hole extends from the outer surface of the inner ring to one of the partial circumferential slots.

Bearing oiling system

A shaft assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a shaft, an annular fluid collection cavity, and a bearing. The shaft is rotatable around an axially extending shaft centerline. The annular fluid collection cavity is formed by an axial panel extending between a forward radial panel and an aft radial panel. The aft radial panel includes a plurality of fluid apertures, each fluid aperture having a center disposed at a first radius from the shaft centerline. The bearing includes an inner race having a shaft mounting surface and a plurality of axially extending race fluid passages. The shaft mounting surface is engaged with an exterior surface of the shaft, and is disposed at a second radius from the shaft centerline, wherein the second radius is less than the first radius. At least some of the axially extending race fluid passages are fluidly connected with at least some of the fluid apertures in the aft radial panel.
