A method and system for detecting that an object, person or vehicle has deviated in space or time from its prescribed route, and guiding it back to the prescribed route, according to strictness criteria predefined by a controlling authority or authorities. The invention allows controlling authorities to pre-specify a level of strictness suiting the object, person or vehicle and purpose of travel, by which the object, person or vehicle is guided back to the prescribed route autonomously, enabling return to route according to established policies, without the necessity of further communication with controlling authorities. The method and system thus operate semi-autonomously, with strictness parameters predefined by the central authorities, and the object, person or vehicle operating with some degree of latitude within those strictness parameters.

Semi-autonomous route compliance navigation system and method

A client/server navigation system utilizes partial route guidance trees, enabling a thin, mobile client to detect route deviation and provide alternate instructions while awaiting response from a server. The system () consists of a server () containing a network database and route-calculation program; a client () capable of obtaining () its current location and destination, displaying route instructions (), and determining when it needs additional instructions from the server (); and communication () between the client () and server (). The invention allows for long routes and responsive operation on a small, low-powered client despite lags and lapses in communication.

Thin-client navigation and route guidance system

An expansible occupant restraint cushion is provided. The restraint cushion includes a first section of material having a plurality of perimeter edges and 'Z' profile lap structures disposed along selected perimeter edges. Each 'Z' profile lap structure includes a first fold formed along a fold line in opposed relation to a perimeter edge and a second fold reverse in direction to the first fold formed along a fold line intermediate the fold line of the first fold and the opposing perimeter edge to yield an outboard attachment margin. The restraint cushion further includes a second section of material in opposed mating relation to the folded first section of material. This second section of material is adjoined to the first folded section of material at the outboard attachment margins of the 'Z' profile lap structures. A related method for forming the cushion of the present invention is also provided.

Inflatable occupant restraint cushion

A process to provide a patterned, laminated fabric in which an inner foam layer is embossed to hold the pattern in the outer decorative layer in position. The process continuously cold embosses the flame laminated fabric to allow continuous formation of the subject fabric at an acceptable rate of speed.
