This disclosure describes co-extruded multilayer articles including at least one continuous layer and one discontinuous layer, as well as systems and techniques for the manufacture of co-extruded multilayer articles. For example, a co-extruded multilayer article is described that includes a body having a plurality of layers, where a first layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a first material and is continuous along a longitudinal axis of the body, and a second layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a second material and is discontinuously co-extruded along the longitudinal axis.

A support core for an elastic sleeve comprises a first cylindrical section disengagably connected to a second cylindrical section. Each cylindrical section has an annular sidewall made up of a plurality of interlocking concave plates extending longitudinally along a portion of the support core between a abutment end and a distal end. The abutment end of each cylinder section includes a generally helical edge. The plurality of concave plates comprises a top and bottom surfaces, having two opposing longitudinal edges extending between said surfaces on opposite sides of the concave plate. Each of the longitudinal edges comprises an interlocking feature that configure to connect to a mating feature of at least one other concave plate to form one of cylindrical sections of the support core.

An electrical connector includes a first jaw having a first set of insulation-piercing elements and a second jaw having a second set of insulation-piercing elements. The first and second sets of insulation-piercing elements are arranged such that at least one row of insulation-piercing elements from the first set of insulation-piercing elements is able to intermesh with at least one row of insulation-piercing elements from the second set of insulation-piercing elements when the first and second jaws are moved towards one another along a z-coordinate.

A clamping member is provided for making electrical connection with the end of the cable. A breathable moisture barrier suitable for use in enclosing flexible electrodes, foam substrate and other electrical components within a substantially liquid impervious environment without significantly impairing the ability of electrical sensors to accurately measure temperature and humidity variations within the surrounding environment such as the seating compartment of an automobile. It is further disclosed that a breathable polymeric material having a sufficiently high moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) will permit water vapor to be transported across the barrier and quickly reach equilibrium within the enclosed seat sensor mat assembly and to allow the humidity compensation of the occupant sensing system to function correctly. The breathable moisture barrier of the present invention provides a sufficiently high MVTR to allow rapid humidity equilibration within the sensor mat so as to better track rapid changes in the passenger compartment environmental conditions upon starting the car and applying either air conditioning or heating.

The present invention provides unified multilayer films having at least one layer that includes a flame retardant film layer. In preferred embodiments the flame retardant film layer is an internal layer. In particularly preferred embodiments of the present invention, multilayer films include flame retardant layers alternating with non flame retardant layers. In other preferred embodiments, multilayer films include alternating layer of different flame retardant materials.
