A fluid delivery device () comprising a housing () having a proximal end, a distal end, and a length therebetween, an activation device () disposed within the housing (), a bottle () at least partially receivable in the proximal end of the housing (), the bottle () containing a fluid medium therein and sealed by a laminate seal element, wherein the laminate seal element is proximate the activation device () and disposed a predetermined distance dimension therefrom, and a foam pad () coupled to a distal end of the housing (), wherein the bottle () is axially movable with respect to the housing () at least the predetermined distance dimension to engage the laminate seal element with the activation device () to dispense the fluid medium from the bottle () through the foam pad. A method of using such a delivery device is provided.

Antiseptic delivery device and method of use

A fluid delivery device and method is provided, comprising a handle, a plate, a foam applicator coupled to a bottom surface of the plate and impregnated with an antiseptic solution. A lid member protects the foam applicator from an external environment and defines at least one aperture therein, wherein the lid member is coupled to the plate to form a breakable seal between the plate and the lid member. A tray member, having a bottom surface and at least one sidewall to define a volume therein, contains the foam applicator. The foam applicator is hermetically sealed from the external environment by the lid member, plate and tray member. The lid member is detachable from both the plate and the tray to release the foam applicator from the fluid delivery device and is in a ready-to-use condition without further activation.

An antimicrobial cap and method for inhibiting the growth of microbes and disinfecting a port are disclosed. The antimicrobial cap comprises an assembly that includes an outer cap, an inner member and a pad disposed within the inner member and impregnated with an antimicrobial agent in order to disinfect the port. The antimicrobial cap includes attachment features and a lock out mechanism allowing the disinfection of different types of ports and connectors and their safe disengagement and thereafter enabling the lock out mechanism in order to prevent re-use of the antimicrobial cap.

A blood glucose meter having a test strip port and an adjustable lancet device disposed at the same end of the device body is disclosed. The device body further includes an enclosure at the proximal end of the device body which houses a test strip storage vial and which facilitates one-handed opening and closing of the vial to simplify access to test strips contained therein. The enclosure is further provided with a window which allows the reading of the lot numbers on the label of the test strip vial therein without necessitating removal of the vial. A data connector is also provided on the device body for communication access, such as to upload data from other devices or to download data to other devices.

An injectable substance delivery device comprising a pen device body, a cartridge, a plunger, a drive mechanism, and at least one of a lock-out mechanism and a rate-limiting mechanism. The lock-out mechanism is provided through a ratchet engagement between the body and the plunger to restrict plunger movement and to ensure that the required needle puncture depth is realized prior to injection by locking out the injection mechanism from advancing until a specified force is applied to the skin. A rate-limiting mechanism is also provided through a user compressed plunger drive spring to ensure that a specific rate of injection is realized during the injection of a medicament.

A blood glucose meter having a test strip port and an adjustable lancet device disposed at the same end of the device body is disclosed. A method and apparatus for injecting fluid into areas having high density tissue that creates a high backpressure resistance on the injection device is disclosed. The high backpressure resistance is overcome through a mechanical advantage achieved by using a secondary reservoir having a cross-sectional area smaller than the cross-sectional area of a primary reservoir. Exemplary injection device reservoir housings may comprise a primary reservoir, a secondary reservoir, a check valve, a septum penetrating cannula, travel limits, a pen needle connecting portion, sliding seal guide ribs, a sliding seal, a pen needle assembly, a needle stop, and a patient needle.

A medical regimen can be administered with a diagnostic and medication delivery system. In one form the system includes a medication delivery pen with a controller and a monitor for monitoring a characteristic of a bodily fluid with a controller. A case includes a compartment for removably storing the medication delivery pen and the monitor. The case includes a communications link for establishing communication between the controller of the pen and the controller of the monitor. The medication delivery pen and monitor are operable in a first mode cooperative with one another and in a second mode independent of one another.

A safety shield system for a pen needle according to the invention has a first passive safety shield for the injection end of a needle, covering the needle before and after use, and a second passive safety shield for the non-injection end of the needle, covering the non-injection end of the needle before and after use, and locking in the covering position when the pen injector is removed.

The invention provides a leakproof sealing system for an eyewash delivery apparatus that extends shelf life of sterile or preserved irrigant solution and is tamper evident. The sealing system has a cap that is positioned over an eye-cup. The boss extends from the cap and surrounds a plurality of spray nozzles. The seal is located adjacent the spray nozzles and is compressively held against the nozzles by a plurality of arms situated within the boss.

A device for collecting and storing a sample from relatively hard or loose products includes a container having an open end and a sample collection unit. The sample collection unit has a cap adapted to close the container open end, a handle extending rearwardly from the cap, and a coring scoop extending forwardly from the cap. The coring scoop is sized to fit within the container when closed by the cap. The coring scoop includes a pair of spaced side walls that are integrally joined by a curved connecting wall with a center of curvature to form an open channel into which a sample is received during sample collection. The handle comprises first and second I-beams extending rearwardly from the cap and intersecting each other along a longitudinal axis that is coincident with the center of curvature to thereby form a plurality of torque arms that extend radially from the axis.
