An incineration system utilizes a circular cross-section pyrolysis chamber in which waste materials are gasified. A flat cast iron hearth serves as the floor of the pyrolysis chamber and has a number of small holes which are raised above the general hearth level by a number of nipples. The bolted front head of the chamber has a vertically movable front door. When raised, the hinged door assembly may be opened by unscrewing a pair of locking mechanisms which seal the door to a vertically movable frame. Ash removal may be accomplished by partially raising the entire structure, rather than opening the door. The ash ram is rectangular, covers a substantial area of the chamber floor when extended, and utilizes a unique cable and cylinder ram moving system. An air plenum above the chamber also acts as a platform, allowing inspection and maintenance to take place on top of the chamber. Gasified waste material leaving the pyrolysis chamber is ignited and burned in a thermal reactor utilizing reverse rotation and forced air combustion to effectively mix and burn the waste material after gasification.

Pyrolytic incineration system

An incinerator for burning waste material includes an outer steel housing having a refractory liner that defines a combustion chamber. A series of channels are secured to the inner surface of the housing and provide vertical air flow passages. The lower ends of the passages are open to the atmosphere, while the upper ends are connected to a plenum and air is drawn through the passages by a blower to thereby preheat the air and cool the outer housing. A portion of the preheated air is directed to the stack for secondary combustion purposes, while a second portion of the preheated air is returned through vertical passages in the end of the housing to a pair of lower plenums and then introduced into the lower end of the combustion chamber for primary combustion purposes. The incinerator also has an improved feed assembly for feeding waste material to the combustion chamber, which includes a hopper, a triple hydraulic cylinder and a ram movable within the hopper. An ash removal rake is incorporated to remove ash from the lower portion of the combustion chamber. The rake is an open bottom casing which fills as the rake moves into the chamber. A door is then closed as the rake is withdrawn from the chamber, thus carrying a quantity of ash out of the chamber.

Incinerator

A dockboard to be attached to the front of a loading dock. The dockboard includes a deck plate, the side edges of which are pivotally connected to guide bars that are movable vertically within guideways formed in the upper portion of a rectangular frame. The frame is mounted for vertical movement within guides mounted on the front face of the loading dock, and the frame and deck plate are partially counterbalanced to an upper position by a counterweight mechanism that is connected to the frame through a synchronized chain drive. The deck plate is stored in a vertical position below deck level and, in use, is lifted to a raised position above dock level, pivoted to a substantially horizontal position and then lowered into engagement with the bed of a carrier located in front of the dock. The pivotal connection between the deck plate and the guide bars enables the deck plate to tilt diagonally as a load moves across the deck plate in the event that the bed of the carrier is not parallel to the upper surface of the dock. When the carrier moves from the dock, the deck plate will swing to a vertical position and the frame will lower by gravity to move the deck plate to the vertical storage position.
