Methods of sequestering carbon dioxide (CO) are provided. Aspects of the methods include contacting an aqueous capture ammonia with a gaseous source of COunder conditions sufficient to produce an aqueous ammonium carbonate. The aqueous ammonium carbonate is then combined with a cation source under conditions sufficient to produce a solid COsequestering carbonate and an aqueous ammonium salt. The aqueous capture ammonia is then regenerated from the from the aqueous ammonium salt. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.

Ammonia mediated carbon dioxide (CO) sequestration methods and systems

Aspects of the invention include methods of removing carbon dioxide (CO) from a COcontaining gas. In some instances, the methods include contacting COcontaining gas with a bicarbonate buffered aqueous medium under conditions sufficient to produce a bicarbonate rich product. Where desired, the resultant bicarbonate rich product or a component thereof may then be stored or further processed, e.g., combined with a divalent alkaline earth metal cation, under conditions sufficient to produce a solid carbonate composition. Aspects of the invention further include systems for practicing the methods, as well as products produced by the methods.

Carbon sequestration methods and systems, and compositions produced thereby

Methods of sequestering carbon dioxide (CO) are provided. Aspects of the methods include contacting a COcontaining gaseous stream with an aqueous medium under conditions sufficient to produce a bicarbonate rich product. The resultant bicarbonate rich product (or a component thereof) is then combined with a cation source under conditions sufficient to produce a solid carbonate composition and product COgas, followed by injection of the product COgas into a subsurface geological location to sequester CO. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.

Carbon sequestration methods and systems

Methods of producing solid COsequestering carbonate materials are provided. Aspects of the methods include introducing a divalent cation source into a flowing aqueous liquid (e.g., a bicarbonate rich product containing liquid) under conditions sufficient such that a non-slurry solid phase COsequestering carbonate material is produced. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.

Continuous carbon sequestration material production methods and systems for practicing the same

Methods of sequestering COfrom a gaseous source of COare provided. Aspects of the methods include employing an alkali enrichment protocol, such as a membrane mediated alkali enrichment protocol, in a COsequestration protocol. Also provided are systems for practicing the methods.
