A method of controlling pests in crops of transgenic useful plants or propagation material thereof, characterized in that a pesticidal composition comprising a macrolide compound in free form or in agrochemically useful salt form as active ingredient and at least one auxiliary is applied to the pests or their environment.

Use of macrolides in pest control

There is now described a method of controlling pests with nitroimino- or nitroguanidino-compounds; more specifically a method of controlling pests in and on transgenic crops of useful plants, such as, for example, in crops of maize, cereals, soya beans, tomatoes, cotton, potatoes, rice and mustard, with a nitroimino- or nitroguanidino-compound, especially with thiamethoxam, characterized in that a pesticidal composition comprising a nitroimino- or nitroguanidino-compound in free form or in agrochemically useful salt form and at least one auxiliary is applied to the pests or their environment, in particular to the crop plant itself.

Benzisothiazoles of the general formula I ##STR1## in which the group RO-- is in one of the positions of the benzene ring and R is a pure or halogenated hydrocarbon radical which is aliphatic or cycloaliphatic, saturated or unsaturated, are active ingredients in crop protection products. They can be used for controlling nematodes which are parasites of plants.

Nematicidal compositions which comprise as active ingredient compounds of formula I ##STR1## wherein R is nitro or halogen, and also processes for the preparation of the compounds of formula I, novel intermediates of the preparation process and methods of using the compounds and the compositions in the control of nematodes are described.

Benzimidazolesulfonic acid derivatives of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is an unsaturated 5-membered heterocycle having not more than two hetero atoms N and/or S or is an unsaturated 6-membered heterocycle having not more than two N atoms, it being possible for each of the heterocycles to be substituted, and X is oxygen or sulfur, while R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and n are as defined herein, are valuable microbicides. They can be used in crop protection in the form of suitable compositions, for example for controlling fungal disease.

Benzotriazolesulfonic acid derivatives of formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3 =R.sub.4 X and R.sub.4 is an unsaturated 6-membered heterocycle having a maximum of 2 nitrogen atoms, it being possible for the heterocycle to be substituted, and X is oxygen or sulfur, while R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined herein, are valuable microbicides. They can be used in plant protection in the form of suitable compositions, for example for controlling fungal diseases.

Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## in which either R is methyl and there is a double bond in the 9,10-position, or in which R is hydrogen and there is a single bond in the 9,10-position, are highly active against Acarina which damage plants.

Derived macrocyclic compounds of the formula I ##STR1## where R is hydrogen, methyl or certain acyl groups, the dotted line in the 9,10-position is a saturated bond or, in the event that R is methyl, is also a double bond, and X is a keto group, or a substituted or unsubstituted oxime, hydrazone or semicarbazone, represent effective microbicides for controlling plant diseases. They can be employed in the customary formulation as agrochemical agents.

Novel macrocyclic compounds of the formual I ##STR1## where the dotted line in the 9,10-position is a saturated bond or a double bond, alternatively, and R is hydrogen, methyl or certain acyl radicals, and R.sub.o is hydrogen, halogen, azido, thiol, hydroxyl or --OY, where Y is, among other radicals, an ether radical, a silyl group, a sulfonyl group, a sugar radical or a (thiol)acyl radical, and R being methyl if there is a double bond in the 9,10-position, have microbicidal properties for the control of phytopathogenic microorganisms.
