A hearing device seal module in accordance with at least one of the present inventions includes a tubular seal carrier defining a lumen configured to receive a hearing device core and including a connector region and a resilient seal support region formed from resilient material, a seal carrier support connected to the seal carrier connector region of the tubular seal carrier, including a support tube defining a longitudinal axis and a lumen configured to permit movement of the hearing device core and a tool along the longitudinal axis, and having an open state and a closed state.

Hearing device seal modules, modular hearing devices including the same and associated methods

A system with a first hearing device including a rechargeable power source, a second hearing device including a rechargeable power source, and a hearing device charger including a charger housing, a power source, charge circuitry operably connected to the power source, a first charge location and a second charge location. The first hearing device, the second hearing device and the hearing device charger may be respectively configured such that the first hearing device will be magnetically attracted to the hearing device charger in response to the first hearing device being positioned at the first charge location, the first hearing device will be magnetically repelled by the hearing device charger in response to the first hearing device being positioned at the second charge location, the second hearing device will be magnetically attracted to the hearing device charger in response to the second hearing device being positioned at the second charge location, and the second hearing device will be magnetically repelled by the hearing device charger in response to the second hearing device being positioned at the first charge location.

Rechargeable hearing devices and chargers for use with same

An exemplary behind-the-ear ('BTE') hearing device has a side specific structure and includes a housing comprising: a proximal portion configured to be positioned towards an upper part of an ear of a recipient, the proximal portion having a curved shape configured to curve within a first reference plane such that the proximal portion is configured to follow a median shape of the ear when the BTE hearing device is worn by the recipient; and a distal portion configured to extend behind the ear when the BTE hearing device is worn by the recipient, the distal portion configured to extend within a second reference plane that intersects the first reference plane at an angle such that the distal portion is bent with respect to the proximal portion and is configured to extend toward a skull of the recipient when the BTE hearing device is worn by the recipient.

Side specific behind-the-ear hearing device and binaural hearing system including the same

There is provided a hearing assistance system, comprising at least a first hearing device to be worn at one ear of a user, the first hearing device comprising a 3-axes accelerometer sensor for generating an acceleration signal indicative of the acceleration of the first hearing device, and an orientation sensor for generating an orientation signal indicative of the azimuthal orientation of the first hearing device, wherein the orientation sensor is selected from the group consisting of a 3-axes magnetic compass sensor and a 3-axes gyroscope sensor, and wherein the system comprises a judgement unit for judging, by analyzing the acceleration signal and the orientation signal of the first hearing device, whether the first hearing device is presently worn at the right ear or at the left ear of the user.
