The controllable rectifier circuit can include a rectifier configured to generate a rectified voltage from the wireless power signal, based on switch control signals. A rectifier control circuit is configured to generate the switch control signals and to generate first control data that indicates a first rectifier duty cycle of the switch control signals. A wireless power transmitter includes circuitry configured to determine a reflected impedance from a receiver coil at a transmitter coil and control a dead-time of one or more switching stages of a power conversion device based on the reflected impedance. A tunable matching network at the transmitter is controlled based on the reflected impedance and the dead-time of the one or more switching stages.

Wireless power transmitter and methods for use therewith

A power converter is described herein. The power converter may be configured to enable a high-side switch when a resonating voltage at a switching net coupled between the high-side switch and a low-side switch reaches a maximum voltage while the power converter operates in a discontinuous current mode. The power converter may sample the resonating voltage at the switching net at a time when the high-side switch is enabled and compare the sampled voltage with a previously-sampled voltage of the switching net. A frequency of an oscillating signal that drives the activation of the high-side switch is periodically adjusted based on the comparison, which causes the high-side switch to be enabled at different times with respect to the resonating voltage. The frequency of the oscillating signal is continuously adjusted such that the high-side switch is enabled at time(s) where the resonating voltage reaches (or is near) its maximum voltage.

High efficiency DC-to-DC converter

Systems and methods of measuring current in a power over Ethernet (PoE) system are provided. The PoE system includes an integrated circuit component having a controller, an internal transistor, a replica transistor, and an external transistor. Current in the system can be indirectly measured by enabling and disabling the transistors in known ways and then measuring the current through the replica transistor. The actual current in the system can be calculated based on the measured currents, thereby allowing for a PoE system that is capable of measuring current without a resistor in series with the external transistor.

System and method for measuring current in hybrid power over ethernet architecture

Systems and methods are provided for power control. In some implementations, a power control system includes a first transistor having a drain coupled to a first conductor (e.g., first pair of wires of an Ethernet cable), a second transistor having a drain coupled to a second conductor (e.g., second pair of wires of the Ethernet cable), a current sensor coupled to sources of the first and second transistors, and a current management circuit. The current management circuit may detect drain voltages of the first transistor and the second transistor, and adjust gate voltages of the first transistor and the second transistor to keep the drain voltages of the first transistor and the second transistor approximately equal. The current management circuit may detect a current through the current sensor, and adjust the gate voltages of the first transistor and the second transistor to limit the detected current to a current limit.

Method and apparatus for current sensing in power over Ethernet (PoE) systems

An exemplary implementation of the present disclosure is a power sourcing equipment (PSE) for determining a resistance of a powered cable. The PSE includes a first supply voltage to cause a first current to flow through first and second output terminals of the PSE. The PSE also includes a second supply voltage to cause a second current to flow through third and fourth output terminals of the PSE. The PSE further includes a current modulation circuit offsetting the second current from the first current to create an offset voltage between the second and the first supply voltages to determine the resistance of the powered cable. The current modulation circuit can offset the second current from the first current utilizing a variable resistance switch to adjust the second current.
