A method for the insertion of a weft thread into a shed of a rapier weaving machine is presented in which the weft thread () is taken up by a bringer rapier () and fixedly clamped in the same by means of a thread clamp, is inserted into the shed by means of the bringer rapier and is taken up by a taker rapier. In the said method the clamping force of the thread clamp in the bringer rapier is additionally controlled during the weft insertion in such a way that the clamping force (F) during the take-up of the weft thread and/or during the transfer of the weft thread is reduced relative to the clamping force (F) in the insertion phase lying therebetween.

Method and apparatus for the insertion of a weft thread

A thread clamp for a rapier head () is presented which contains a clamping part () for firmly clamping a weft thread () and an actuator () for moving the clamping part (). The actuator () includes a ferromagnetic core (), an armature () and at least one winding () which is arranged on the core or armature in order to produce a magnetic field in the latter and to move the armature and the clamping part, which is operatively connected to the latter, with the core () having two limbs () between which the armature () is movably arranged, and with each limb being provided with a permanent magnet () in order to hold the armature at one of the two rest positions in the current-free state of the winding.

Thread clamp for a rapier head

A jet weaving machine is proposed in which a weft thread (S) can be inserted by means of a fluid from a weft insertion side () to a receiving side (), including a weaving sley (), along which a weft insertion path () extends, which determines a weft insertion direction (A), and including a monitoring apparatus () which is arranged at the receiving side () and which comprises two sensor devices () for detecting the weft thread (S) or parts of the weft thread respectively, with exactly one of the sensor devices () being firmly mounted on the weaving sley ().
