Intraluminal imaging devices and methods of assembling the intraluminal imaging devices are provided. For example, an intraluminal imaging device can include a flexible elongate catheter body and a rigid imaging assembly coupled to a distal portion of the elongate catheter body. A distal portion of the inner member is positioned within a lumen of the imaging assembly, and the flexible elongate member comprises a strain relief layer positioned around the inner member. A distal portion of the strain relief layer is positioned radially between the inner member and the imaging assembly, and a proximal end of the strain relief layer is positioned distally of a proximal end of the inner member, forming a transition region. The transition region can prevent bending or kinking of the flexible elongate catheter body when the intraluminal imaging device is navigating tortuous regions of the patient's anatomy.

Strain relief for intraluminal ultrasound imaging and associated devices, systems, and methods

An intraluminal ultrasound imaging device includes a flexible elongate member and an ultrasound imaging assembly coupled to a distal portion of the flexible elongate member. The ultrasound imaging assembly includes a flexible substrate comprising a scanner body portion, one or more control circuits mounted on the scanner body portion, and one or more transducer elements mounted on the scanner body portion. The ultrasound imaging assembly also includes an attachment portion extending proximally from the scanner body portion. The attachment portion defines a path that curves in a first direction and different second direction, and includes a plurality of conductive traces in electrical communication with the one or more control circuits. The plurality of conductive traces follows the curved path of the attachment portion, and each conductive trace comprises a pattern that bends relative to the curved path of the attachment portion.

An intravascular imaging device is provided. In some embodiments, the intravascular imaging device includes a flexible elongate member sized and shaped for insertion into a vessel of a patient, the flexible elongate member having a proximal portion and a distal portion; and an imaging assembly disposed at the distal portion of the flexible elongate member, the imaging assembly including a flex circuit positioned directly around the flexible elongate member. In some embodiments, a method of assembling an intravascular imaging device includes obtaining a flex circuit including a first layer having a plurality of transducers and a second layer having an acoustic backing material; and positioning the flex circuit directly around a distal portion of a flexible elongate member.

An intraluminal imaging device includes a flexible elongate shaft including a distal portion and a proximal portion, wherein the flexible elongate shaft is configured for insertion into a patient body; a distal tip that comprises an imaging element and is operably associated with the distal portion of the flexible elongate shaft; and a control handle coupled to the proximal portion of the flexible elongate shaft, wherein the control handle includes: a first actuator configured to position the imaging element within the patient body; and a first frictional member coupled to the first actuator and arranged to contact the first actuator to control positioning of the imaging element. In on embodiment, an intraluminal device includes a flexible elongate member including a proximal portion and a distal portion; an imaging component coupled to the distal portion of the flexible elongate member; and a plurality of radiopaque markers positioned at the distal portion of the flexible elongate member, wherein the plurality of radiopaque markers are separated from each other, wherein the plurality of radiopaque markers are arranged on the flexible elongate member at two different orientations with respect to the imaging component, and wherein at least a first radiopaque marker of the plurality of radiopaque markers includes an arc-shaped portion and an extended portion extending from the arc-shaped portion.

According to one embodiment, an intraluminal ultrasound imaging catheter includes a flexible elongate member configured to be positioned within a body lumen of a patient, a support member coupled to a distal portion of the flexible elongate member, and an ultrasound scanner assembly positioned around the support member. The support member includes a hollow inner member comprising a first material, and a first annular member positioned around a perimeter of the hollow inner member at a proximal portion of the hollow inner member. The first annular member extends radially outward from the hollow inner member and includes a second material that is different from the first material.

Handheld steering devices for use with intravascular devices and associated systems and methods are disclosed. In some instances, the handheld steering device includes a housing sized and shaped for grasping by a hand of a user; a steering controller coupled to the housing; a processor in communication with the steering controller, the processor configured to translate inputs from the steering controller into actuation signals based on a code architecture that includes a script for at least one of a return home function, a return to stored position function, a store current position function, or an automated mapping function; and an actuator positioned within the housing and configured to interface with the intravascular device based on the actuation signals to the steer the intravascular device. A method of assembling an intravascular imaging device is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes obtaining a support member having a body portion including a plurality of recesses longitudinally spaced from one another; positioning a flex circuit around the support member such that the flex circuit is radially spaced from the body portion of the support member; and filling a space between the flex circuit and the support member with a backing material through the plurality of recesses of the body portion. In one embodiment, an intravascular imaging device includes a flexible elongate member; an imaging assembly including: a flex circuit; and a support member around which the flex circuit is disposed, the support member having a body portion including plurality of recesses, wherein the support member defines lumen in fluid communication with a space between the flex circuit and the support member via the plurality of recesses.
