An integration kit is disclosed herein that allows for mounting of a resolver trigger wheel relative to a bearing assembly, resolver, and rotor. The integration kit simplifies assembly and saves space. The integration kit includes a resolver integration sleeve that includes a first axial section including a radially inner surface defining a bearing support and radially inwardly extending flange defining an axial abutment surface. The resolver integration sleeve also includes a second axial section including at least one anti-rotation slot dimensioned to receive a portion of a trigger wheel, at least one anti-rotation tab extending axially towards the first axial section and dimensioned to be received by a rotor, at least one securing tab extending radially outward and configured to engage a trigger wheel, and a radially outwardly extending flange.

Resolver integration kit for variable reluctance resolver

A bearing includes an integrated electrical shunt. The shunt includes electrically conductive fibers sandwiched between two washers, at least one of which is electrically conductive. The fibers are fastened to the electrically conductive washer by electrically conductive epoxy. An outer shield protects the fibers. The outer shield is held to the washers by a drawn cup. The washers, the drawn cup, and the outer shield all have oil drain holes to allow lubricant to flow to the rollers.

Bearing with an integrated electrical shunt

An improved arrangement and method for preventing bearing ring creep is disclosed herein. The method includes providing a bearing ring including a radial surface having at least one spiral groove. The at least one groove has edge breaks connecting lateral sides to the radial surface of the bearing ring. The method includes arranging the bearing ring inside of a housing or around a shaft such that the radial surface of the bearing ring is arranged adjacent to an inner surface of the housing or an outer surface of the shaft. The edge breaks of the bearing ring frictionally engage with the shaft or the housing to prevent creep of the bearing ring.

Creep mitigation design for bearing assembly

A bearing cage includes a first annular body having a plurality of circumferentially arranged fingers that extending axially therefrom. Each of the fingers have a tab with a first arcuate engagement surface. A second annular body has a plurality of circumferentially arranged finger-receiving holes extending axially and configured to receive the fingers. Each of the holes have an associated second arcuate engagement surface configured to engage with the first arcuate engagement surface when the fingers are received in the holes to secure the first and second bodies together to form the bearing cage.

Two-piece bearing cage for high-speed bearings

In a motor assembly, a rotor and a trigger wheel are each secured to a first race of a four-point contact ball bearing. The circumferential position of the rotor and trigger wheel are each fixed with respect to the first bearing, and therefore with respect to one another. A resolver sensor is bolted to a housing. A second race is mounted at a fixed axial position relative to the housing, thereby locating the trigger wheel with respect to the resolver sensor. In some embodiments, the first race may be an inner race and the second race an outer race. In other embodiments, the first race may be an outer race and the second race an inner race.

An outer ring for a deep groove ball bearing assembly is disclosed. The outer ring includes a radially inner surface defining a raceway, and a radially outer surface defining a single groove extending between axial ends of the outer ring. The single groove contacts at least one axial end face of the outer ring.

Lubrication groove for deep groove ball bearing

A deep groove ball bearing assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes an inner bearing ring defining an inner race, an outer bearing ring defining an outer race, and a plurality of rolling elements supported on the inner race and the outer race. A shaft is supported on a radially inner surface of the inner bearing ring, and a housing is supported on a radially outer surface of the outer bearing ring. The assembly includes a contact surface on at least one of: the inner bearing ring, the outer bearing ring, the shaft, or the housing. The contact surface includes at least one lubrication groove.

A radial wedge clutch, including: an axis of rotation; a shaft; an outer ring located radially outward of the shaft; a cage radially disposed between the shaft and the outer ring; a plurality of circumferentially aligned wedge plate segments radially disposed between the shaft and the outer ring; at least one resilient element urging the plurality of circumferentially aligned wedge plate segments radially outwardly; and an actuation plate axially displaceable in a first axial direction to engage the cage and rotate the cage and the plurality of circumferentially aligned wedge plate segments.

Radial wedge plate clutch

A three-way switchable clutch, including: outer and inner rings; and pawls non-rotatably connected to the outer ring. For a free-wheel mode, the inner and outer rings are rotatable with respect to each other. For first and second clutch modes, the pawls are displaceable to engage the inner ring to non-rotatably connect the inner and outer rings. For the first mode: rotation of one of the inner or outer rings is in a first circumferential directions and the one of the inner or outer rings is rotatable with respect to the other of the inner or outer ring in a second circumferential direction. For the second mode: rotation of the one of the inner or outer rings is in the second circumferential direction and the one of the inner or outer rings is rotatable with respect to the other of the inner or outer rings in the first circumferential direction.

A clutch includes a carrier defining an annular groove and a hub coaxial with the carrier and defining an outer surface. The hub is axially movable relative to the carrier between at least a first position and a second position. A wedge disk has a first edge disposed on the outer surface, a second edge disposed in the annular groove, and a face extending between the edges and defining an annular shoulder. The disk engages between the carrier and the hub when the hub is in the first position to lock the clutch, and the carrier and the hub are rotatable relative to each other when the hub is in the second position. An annular retainer is configured to prevent radial expansion of the disk when the hub is in the second position and to permit radial expansion of the disk when the hub is in the first position.

A wedge clutch, including: an axis of rotation; a hub; an inner ring located radially inward of the hub; a cage radially disposed between the hub and the inner ring; a plurality of circumferentially aligned wedge plate segments radially disposed between the hub and the inner ring; and a circumferentially continuous resilient element engaged with the cage and the plurality of circumferentially aligned wedge plate segments, and urging the plurality of circumferentially aligned wedge plate segments radially outward.

Wedge clutch with wedge plate segments, cage and wave spring and method thereof

A wedge clutch imparts a wedging effect to selectively transfer power through powertrain components. The wedge clutch includes a plurality of wedge segments arranged annularly about an axis and configured to collectively constrict and expand with respect to the axis to correspondingly lock and unlock the clutch. Each wedge segment includes an aperture. A cage assembly is configured to control relative movement of the plurality of wedge segments with respect to each other. The cage assembly including a plurality of pins, each extending through one of the apertures to control the relative movement of the wedge segments.

Caged wedge clutch

A rolling element bearing includes an inner ring and an outer ring, with rolling elements therebetween. The plurality of rolling elements collectively define a pitch diameter. An electrically-conductive shunt ring has an outer diameter surface and an inner diameter surface, one of which contacting either the outer ring or the inner ring, and the other not directly contacting the rings. A plurality of fingers extend from the contacting diameter surface. A plurality of carbon fiber elements extend from each finger and contact the other of the rings, to conduct electrical current between the inner ring and outer ring. The non-contacting diameter surface of the shunt ring defines a diameter that exceeds the pitch diameter to enable free-flow of lubricant through the bearing.
