A dental composition comprising a polymerizable monomer (1), initiator, filler component(s) in an amount of more than about 20 wt.-%, wt.-% with respect to the whole weight of the composition, the polymerizable monomer (1) being characterized as follows: having exactly two (meth)acrylate reactive moieties, having an unsymmetrical backbone as linkage between the (meth)acrylate reactive moieties, the two (meth)acrylate reactive moieties being attached onto the unsymmetrical monomer backbone as alkyl esters, the unsymmetrical backbone comprising one aromatic moiety of the phenolic type, the polymerizable monomer (1) not containing an acidic moiety, other atoms than carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen, a bisphenol moiety. The invention is also directed to the use of the dental composition as or for producing a dental filling material, dental cement, crown and bridge material, inlay, onlay, veneer, orthodontic device or dental mill blank.

Dental composition and use thereof

The invention relates to a dental composition comprising polymerizable monomer (1), initiator component(s), filler component(s) in an amount of more than about 20 wt.-%, wt.-% with respect to the whole weight of the composition, the polymerizable monomer (1) being characterized as follows: having exactly two (meth)acrylate reactive moieties, having an unsymmetrical backbone as linkage between the (meth)acrylate reactive moieties, the two (meth)acrylate reactive moieties being attached onto the unsymmetrical monomer backbone as alkyl esters, the unsymmetrical backbone comprising one aromatic moiety of the phenolic type, the polymerizable monomer (1) not containing an acidic moiety, other atoms than carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, bisphenol moieties. The invention also relates to the use of the dental composition as or for producing a dental filling material, crown and bridge material, inlay, onlay, veneer or dental mill blank.

The invention relates to a dental composition having a) compound (A) with the following features: only one backbone unit (U) with 6 to 20 carbon atoms, at least 6 carbon atoms thereof forming an aromatic or an aliphatic cyclic moiety, the remaining carbon atoms either being part of substituents pending from the cyclic moiety or being part of bridging groups to spacer units, wherein one or more of the remaining carbon atoms can be replaced by an oxygen atom, the backbone unit not comprising a bisphenol structure,one or two spacer unit(s) (S) being connected to the backbone unit (U) via an ether linkage, at least one spacer unit (S) having a &#x2014;CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-O-CH2-CH(Q)-OG chain or a &#x2014;CH2-CH(OG)-CH2-OM residue or a mixture of these two types of spacers within one spacer unit,with G having at least one group selected from acroyl, methacroyl, acetyl, benzoyl, and combinations thereof, M having at least one aryl group, and combinations thereof, Q having at least one group selected from hydrogen, methyl, phenyl, phenoxymethyl, and combinations thereof,b) filler (B) and c) initiator (C).

Dental composition, method of producing and use thereof

The invention relates to a dental composition comprising a) a compound (A) with the following features: only one backbone unit (U) with 6 to 20 carbon atoms, at least 6 carbon atoms thereof forming an aromatic or an aliphatic cyclic moiety, the remaining carbon atoms either being part of substituents pending from the cyclic moiety or being part of bridging groups to spacer units, wherein one or more of the remaining carbon atoms can be replaced by an oxygen atom, the backbone unit not comprising a bisphenol structure and halogen atoms, one or two unit(s) (S) being connected to the backbone unit (U) via an ether linkage, at least one unit (S) comprising a &#x2014;CH2-CH2-CH2-CH2-O&#x2014;CH2-CH(Q)-OG moiety or a &#x2014;CH2-CH(OG)-CH2-OM moiety or a mixture of these two types of moieties within one unit (S), with G comprising at least one polymerizable moiety and an urethane moiety, the urethane moiety acting as connecting element to unit(s) (S), and M comprising at least one group selected from acroyl, methacroyl, aryl, mixtures and combinations thereof, Q comprising at least one group selected from hydrogen, methyl, phenyl, phenoxymethyl, mixtures and combinations thereof, and with the proviso that onto the backbone unit (U) at least two substituents are attached, each bearing at least one group G, wherein in the case where only one unit (S) is present, the group G not being part of said unit (S) is located in the further substituent pending from unit (U), b) a filler (B) and c) an initiator (C).

The invention relates to a dental composition comprising a monomer or mixture of monomers represented by the following structure (1) withR independently selected from H, alkyl (e.g. CHCH), and Phenyl,R independently selected from H, alkyl (e.g. CH), and halogen (Cl, Br, F),R independently selected from H, alkyl (e.g. CH), m, n=1, 2 and x+y=2 to 10, with the proviso that if m=n=2, than x+y=2 and if m=n=1, than x+y=4 to 10.
