A light sensor is disclosed. The light sensor comprises a first pixel and a second pixel. The light sensor comprises measurement circuitry. The first pixel is configured to accumulate a first charge and the second pixel is configured to accumulate a second charge when the light sensor is exposed to light. The first pixel is configured to trigger the measurement circuitry to measure the second charge when the first charge reaches a threshold capacity of the first pixel. Also disclosed is an active pixel sensor comprising the light sensor, an image sensor and a device incorporating the light sensor.

Light sensor

An electric driver circuit for driving a light-emitting diode may be operated in a regulation operation mode to generate an output voltage to drive a predefined current through the light-emitting diode. The electric driver circuit is operated in a start-up operation mode before the regulation operation mode. The operation of the electric driver circuit in the start-up operation mode enables that a coil current generated in an inductor can be completely discharged before starting the regulation operation mode.

In one embodiment, a driver circuit for light-emitting diodes has a first DC/DC converter (DCDC) with an input (IN) for feeding a supply voltage (VBAT) and with a first output (OUT), a second DC/DC converter (DCDC), which is coupled on the output side to the first output (OUT) and is designed for operation with energy supplied in advance, a current source (IFlash) that is connected to the first output (OUT), and a main output (LED_OUT), which is coupled to the current source (IFlash) and is designed to be connected to the light-emitting diodes. The first DC/DC converter (DCDC) is designed for operation in a current-limiting mode. The second DC/DC converter (DCDC) is designed for regulation to a nominal voltage (Vds) of the current source (IFlash).

Driver circuit for light-emitting diodes

A voltage-converter arrangement comprises an arrangement input () for the supply of an input voltage (VIN), an arrangement output () for the provision of an output voltage (VOUT), a voltage converter () that is coupled on the input side to the arrangement input () and on the output side to the arrangement output (), and a control device () with a control output (). The control output () is coupled to the voltage converter (). A control signal (SW) can be picked up at the control output (). The control device () is designed to switch the frequency (f) of the control signal (SW) between values from a number N of predetermined, discrete frequency values. The voltage converter () is designed to convert the input voltage (VIN) into the output voltage (VOUT) as a function of the control signal (SW).
