An axle box-bearing unit for an axle including a housing element and a sensor unit having a sensor module, a connection piece for connecting to a processing unit and a flexible electrical cable joining the sensor module and the connection piece into a single part. The housing element is delimited by an annular lateral wall provided with a transversal through hole engaged by a plug fitted in a fluid-tight manner to the flexible electrical cable between the sensor module and the connection piece. A first plate provided with a second through hole is rigidly connected to the lateral wall of the housing element, with the second hole aligned with the first hole and crossed through by the plug, a second U-shaped plate is fitted astride of the plug to connect with one end of same that projects radially from the holes and is rigidly connected to the first plate.

Sensorized axle box-bearing unit for supporting a railway axle

A measurement system including: a radial external hole on a cover of a railway axle-box on the side of an edge of the cover facing towards a rolling bearing of the axle-box; a smaller axial hole made on the edge of the cover facing towards a ring of the bearing and opening in the radial hole; a cup-shaped body accommodated in the radial hole; a fork shaped spring integrally carried by a bottom wall of the cup-shaped body, projecting in front of the axial hole; a temperature probe slidingly accommodated within the axial hole and including a tubular element incorporating an electrical temperature sensor and an electric cable protruding from a first end of the tubular element accommodated within the cup-shaped body; and an abutting element removably coupled to the first end to cooperate with the spring, which pushes a second end of the probe out of the axial hole.

Rolling bearing temperature measurement system in a railway axle-box and associated method

A system for harvesting energy including: an electrical machine including a first and a second structure, movable with respect to each other; a counterweight coupled to the second structure; a power transfer structure, electrically connected between the first structure and the load; an angular position sensor which provides a position signal ({right arrow over (&#x3b5;)}(t)) indicating the angular position of the counterweight; and an accelerometer which provides an acceleration signal ({right arrow over (a)}(t)) indicating an acceleration which affects the first structure. The system for harvesting energy further comprising a control unit, which includes: a first stage which generates a limit position signal ({right arrow over (&#x3b5;)}(t)) indicating an angular instability region (R-I); and a second stage which controls the power transfer structure based on the position signal and on the limit position signal, so as to modulate the transfer of electrical power to the load so as to prevent the counterweight from entering into the angular instability region.

System for harvesting energy including a counterweight and a system for controlling the angular position of the counterweight

A linear actuator comprising a spindle, a spindle nut, a transmission, an electrical motor, and an actuation element, is arranged to linearly move the actuation element by means of an interaction of the spindle and the spindle nut, which interaction is being driven by the electrical motor through the transmission. A position of the actuation element, the relative position between spindle and spindle nut, is determined by means of an absolute rotary position sensor and a counter. The counter keeps track of the number of under-flows and over-flows the absolute rotary position sensor generates during movement of the actuation element. A combination of a value from the absolute rotary position sensor and a count from the counter determines the position.
