A sealing assembly for two mechanical members connected for relative rotation; a first mechanical member is fitted integrally with a substantially rigid shield, from which projects radially an annular sealing member having, on a respective first annular face, a first and a second axial sealing lip, both cooperating in sliding manner with a sealing surface of a second mechanical member; when the first annular face of the annular sealing member is subjected to a pressure substantially equal to the pressure on a second annular face, opposite the first, of the annular sealing member, only the first lip cooperates in sliding manner with the sealing surface, and the second lip mates, with no interference, with the sealing surface to permit fluid passage; conversely, when the first annular face is subjected to a pressure significantly lower than the pressure on the opposite second annular face, the annular sealing member is deformed elastically so that the second lip also cooperates in sliding manner with the sealing surface.

A device for gauging relative rotational movement and/or displacement between the races (10, 11) of a bearing comprises a pulse generator (13) activated by the rotating race (11) and coupled to a non-rotating sensor (12). The pulse generator consists of a coding wheel and the sensor consists of an optical encoder. The coding wheel (13) comprises a disk of reflecting material on which a plurality of non-reflecting zones or apertures is provided.

A sealing shield, particularly for rolling bearings, of the type wherein relatively soft, elastic peripheral portions are secured to a relatively rigid intermediate portion; the intermediate portion consisting of a single rigid annular insert formed from a synthetic plastic polymer; and the relatively soft peripheral portions being preferably in the form of independent elements co-molded on to the annular insert and formed from a mixture of an elastomer and the same synthetic plastic polymer from which the annular insert is formed. In a preferred embodiment, the annular insert has a trapezoidal radial cross-section.

A rolling bearing seal assembly with a built-in sensor; the bearing including a first ring rotating in relation to a second ring, and a number of rolling bodies interposed between the first ring and the second ring and housed in a chamber defined between the two rings; and the seal assembly including at least one shielding element for closing the chamber and located facing the chamber and outside the bearing, and at least one sensor housed inside a seat formed inside the shielding element.

A rotary roller bit comprising at least one rotatably carried roller cutter (12) and provided with sealing means (21) for preventing impurities from entering into the bearing system (14, 15, 16,) of the roller cutter. For purposes of preventing axial and wobbling movements of the roller cutter (12) relative to the bit head from creating high contact pressure at the contact surface between the sealing means (21) and the surface against which same seals the sealing means (21) is provided with an elastically yieldable tongue (25) which extends radially relative to the rotational axis of the roller cutter (12).
