A recording medium is provided, such as paper, secured by magnetic microwires. The recording medium comprises: a pulp structure formed by pulp fibers, said pulp structure carrying microwires having a metal core of a predetermined material composition, and an insulating layer coating on said metal core; and at least one coating layer on at least one side of said pulp structure. The pulp structure is a single-layer structure with the microwires fully embedded in said single layer, the microwires having cross-sectional dimensions approximately equal to cross-sectional dimensions of the pulp fibers.

A label includes a belt-like label body having a base and an adhesion layer provided on one surface of the base, a linear magnetic material arranged in the label body along a longitudinal direction of the label body, and plural cut portions provided by cutting the label body and the magnetic material along a width direction of the label body except for a portion of the label body in the width direction, and provided at intervals in the longitudinal direction of the label body.

A paper includes a paper body containing pulp fibers, a low electric-resistance region provided in a layer inside the paper body and being lower than the paper body in electric resistivity, and magnetic bodies arranged inside the low electric-resistance region and having a large Barkhausen effect.

A magnetic wire includes a magnetic metal wire material having a surface coated with a layer of an insulating material. The magnetic wire has a magnetic coercive force of 30 A/m or less and has a Barkhausen effect.

A baggage management gate including an exciting coil, a detecting coil and signal processing unit. The exciting coil forms an alternating magnetic field in a passage to an area from which manages objects to be carried in or carried out. The detecting coil detects a variation in the alternating magnetic field when magnetization of a magnetic material showing a large Barkhausen effect is reversed in the alternating magnetic field. The signal processing unit determines as to whether the magnetization reversal occurs in the alternating magnetic field due to the large Barkhausen effect or not, based on a signal detected by the detecting coil.
