A recording sheet for ink jet printing comprising a support having coated onto said support one or more layers receptive for aqueous inks, said coating comprising at least one film forming, hydrophilic polymer or a mixture of film forming hydrophilic polymers and imbedded in this film at least one trivalent salt of a metal of the Group IIIb series of the periodic table of elements or complexes which comprise trivalent ions of the metals of Group IIIb of the periodic table of the elements. In another embodiment the salts or complexes of Group IIIb elements are coated directly on the substrate surface without the presence of the film forming polymer.

This subject invention relates to novel dihydrazide compounds useful as dot-promoting agents in photographic image systems, methods for making them, and to photographic materials which comprise these compounds.

Dihydrazides

A photographic silver dye bleach material which contains a compound of the formula ##STR1## in which R is a substituted alkyl, R.sub.1 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, p is 1 or 2, q is 0 or 1, p+q having to be 1 or 2, and n is 1 to 20, or a salt of this compound. The benzoquinones used deactivate bleach catalysts which diffuse beyond the silver image area produced by development of the exposed material. The silver dye bleach material containing these compounds is therefore distinguished by high contrast, high sharpness and good color reproduction.

Photographic material for the silver dye bleach process

Recording material for color photography, which contains, in at least one silver halide emulsion layer, at least one yellow coupler of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 and X.sub.4 are radicals detachable during the coupling reaction and Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 are halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylmercapto, --CN, --COOH, carbalkoxy, --NH.sub.2, --NHR.sub.5, --NR.sub.5 R.sub.6 or --NHCOR.sub.5, in which R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are alkyl or phenyl, Z is a divalent bridge member and r is 1 or 2. Photographic colored images with excellent spectral absorption characteristics and good resistance to light, heat and moisture are obtained by exposing the recording material image-wise and developing.

Recording material for color photography

Compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently of one another are hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy and R.sub.2 additionally represents a radical of the formula ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 have the abovementioned meanings, R.sub.4 is unsubstituted or substituted phenoxy or unsubstituted or substituted amino and R.sub.5 is hydrogen or a radical of the formula ##STR3## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 have the abovementioned meanings and R.sub.2 ' has the same meanings as R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 are suitable development accelerators in the development of exposed, photographic materials containing silver halide. They accelerate the reduction of the exposed silver salt to silver and increase the speed of photographic material.

Photographic material

A process for the production of photographic color images by the silver dye bleach process, by exposure, silver development, dye formation, dye bleach, silver bleach and fixing of a photographic material which, in a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer or in an adjacent layer, contains, dispersed in oil, an oil-soluble triazene of the formula ##STR1## and an oil-soluble coupling component of the formula ##STR2## in which Ar.sub.1 is aryl or an aromatic heterocyclic radical, R.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, hydroxyl, --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.r --L.sub.1 or --OL.sub.1, in which L.sub.1 is alkyl and r is 1, 2 or 3, or R.sub.1 is ##STR3## in which V is hydrogen or alkyl, and R.sub.2 is alkyl, aryl or --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.r --L.sub.1, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, conjointly with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form a ring, A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 independently of one another are an amine of the formula --NT.sub.1 T.sub.2, in which T.sub.1 and T.sub.2 independently of one another are hydrogen, alkyl or aryl, and X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 independently of one another are hydrogen or alkyl, X.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, --O(C.sub.2 H.sub.4 O).sub.n --H, --O(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OH, --O(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OZ.sub.1 or --O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --Z.sub.1, in which Z.sub.1 is alkyl, n is 1 to 5 and m is 2 to 4, or X.sub.3 is aryloxy, hydroxyl, halogen, --NHCOY.sub.1, --NHCOH, --NHCOOY.sub.1, --NHP(O)(OY.sub.1).sub.2 or --NHSO.sub.2 Y.sub.1, in which Y.sub.1 is alkyl, --O(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OH, --O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --H, --O(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OZ.sub.1 or --O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --Z.sub.1, or is aryl, and X.sub.4 is hydrogen, alkyl, --O(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OH, --O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --H, --O(CH.sub.2).sub.m --OZ.sub.1 or --O(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --Z.sub.1, alkoxy, aryloxy or halogen, and the total of the carbon atoms in the substituents X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 and X.sub.4 is at least 10. The material which has an enhanced sensitivity is treated, after developing the image silver, with an acid processing solution which contains a phase transfer catalyst capable of transferring cations. The material used in this process exhibits a clearly increased sensitivity.

Process for the production of photographic color images by the silver

The compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R is amino, cyclic amino, aryloxy or a group of the formula ##STR2## in which L is a radical of the formula .dbd.N-Z, with Z being alkyl or cycloalkyl, or is a heterocyclic radical, aryleneoxy or oxyaryleneoxy and R' and R' are hydrogen, alkyl or halogen, and x and y are 0, 1, 2 or 3, are suitable development accelerators for the development of exposed photographic materials containing silver halide. They accelerate the reduction of the exposed silver salt to silver and thus enhance the sensitivity of the photographic material.

A color-photographic recording material for the silver dye bleach process, which contains oil-soluble azo dyes of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, acyl, carbalkoxy, acylamino, carbamide, sulfonamide, alkylsulfone, arylsulfone, aryloxy, arylsulfonic acid ester, hydroxyl, cyano, nitro or halogen, R.sub.2 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, carbalkoxy, carbamide, sulfonamide, alkylsulfone, arylsulfone, aryloxy, cyano, nitro or halogen, R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, phenoxy, sulfonamide, alkylsulfone, sulfonic acid ester, cyano, nitro, halogen, carbalkoxy, carbamide or phosphoric acid diester, R.sub.4 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, carbalkoxy, carbamide, sulfonamide, acylamino, alkylsulfone, arylsulfone, hydroxyl, cyano, nitro or halogen, R.sub.5 is hydrogen, alkyl or carbalkoxy, X.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino, alkylsulfonamide or hydroxyl, Y.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, carbalkoxy, arylsulfonamide, acylamino, halogen, hydroxyl or phosphamic acid ester, Z.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino, acyl, carbalkoxy, alkylsulfonamide or halogen or forms a ring with Y.sub.1, and W.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen. The substituents mentioned can, where relevant, themselves be further substituted. The oil-soluble azo dyes are easily incorporated into silver halide gelatin emulsions and are very stable therein. Because of the good oil-solubility of the azo dyes, very thin layers can be cast in producing photographic materials, and this has an advantageous effect on, for example, the image sharpness.

Color-photographic recording material for the silver dye bleach process

Light-sensitive color photographic material which contains on a base in at least one silver halide emulsion layer or an interlayer which is assigned to this and does not contain silver halide, at least one DIR coupler of the formula ##STR1## in which R is alkyl having 1 to 18 carbons atoms or aryl, D is hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having 3 to 10 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 2 to 18 carbon atoms, cycloalkenyl having 5 to 10 carbon atoms, aralkyl having 7 to 18 carbon atoms, cyano or halogen and G is a optionally substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, the sum of the carbon atoms in the substituents D and G being at least 5, L.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, L.sub.2 is alkyl having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, phenyl or phenyl substituted by halogen, alkyl or alkoxy, each having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, acylamino, sulphonamide groups or carboxamide groups and X is sulphur or selenium, and wherein the triazolyl radical released during the reaction of the coupler with an oxidation product of an aromatic developer containing primary amino groups has development-inhibiting effects. The DIR-couplers can contribute substantially to improving interlayer color correction and to the image grain and the sharpness of the photographic images obtained after imagewise exposure and usual processing of said photographic material.

Light-sensitive color photographic material

Light-sensitive recording material for color photography is provided which contains, in at least one silver halide emulsion layer, a yellow coupler of the formula ##STR1## in which R and R' are alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl and X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 are radicals which are detachable during the coupling reaction, Y is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylmercapto, --CN, --COOH, carbalkoxy, --NH.sub.2, --NHR.sub.1, --NR.sub.1 R.sub.2 or --NHCOR.sub.1, in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are alkyl or phenyl, Z is alkyl having 5 to 40 carbon atoms, alkoxy having 5 to 40 carbon atoms, cycloalkoxy having 5 to 12 carbon atoms or aralkyl; alkoxyalkyl, alkoxycycloalkyl, cycloalkoxyalkyl, optionally substituted phenoxyalkyl, alkylamino- and dialkylamino-alkyl, optionally substituted arylamino- and diarylamino-alkyl, alkylmercaptoalkyl or optionally substituted arylmercaptoalkyl, in which radicals the sum of the carbon atoms in each case is 6 to 40; or --COOR.sub.3, --COR.sub.3, --NR.sub.3 R.sub.4, --CONR.sub.3 R.sub.4, --NR.sub.4 COR.sub.3, --SO.sub.2 R.sub.3, --SO.sub.2 NR.sub.3 R.sub.4 or --NR.sub.4 SO.sub.2 R.sub.3, R.sub.3 is optionally substituted alkyl having 1 to 40 carbon atoms, optionally substituted cycloalkyl having 5 to 12 carbon atoms or optionally substituted phenyl and R.sub.4 is hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. The couplers used according to the invention have a high coupling reactivity towards the oxidation product of the aromatic primary amine (developer), so that the developing of the silver halide emulsion proceeds rapidly. Furthermore, an adequate color density is achieved, although the molar amont of coupler employed can be markedly reduced compared with that of known couplers.

Material for color photography

Recording material for color photography, which contains, in at least one silver halide emulsion layer, at least one yellow coupler of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 and X.sub.4 are radicals detachable during the coupling reaction and Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 are halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylmercapto, --CN, --COOH, carbalkoxy, --NH.sub.2, --NHR.sub.5, --NR.sub.5 R.sub.6 or --NHCOR.sub.5, in which R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are alkyl or phenyl, Z is a divalent bridge member and r is 1 or 2. Photographic colored images with excellent spectral absorption characteristics and good resistance to light, heat and moisture are obtained by exposing the recording material image-wise and developing.
