The invention provides an optoelectronic device having a holder and a coxial module which is secured in the holder and which includes an optoelectronic component, preferably a semi-conductor diode laser. The module is capable of receiving or emitting radiation at an end face of the module, preferably via a coupled glass fiber. Connection pins for the optoelectronic component are situated at the other end face of the module and the holder is provided with connection means which extended right angles to the longitudinal direction of the module and that are electrically connected to the connection pins. The connection pins are bent from the longitudinal direction of the module towards the connection means. The free ends of the connection pins are inserted in the connection means. The holder is provided with a clamping member by means of which the module is secured in the holder. A displacement device with a first part (1) and a second part (3) which are mutually displaceable in a displacement direction. The first part (1) comprises a number of contact bodies (7) which are pressed against the second part (3) against a pretensioning force which is present between the first part (1) and the second part (3). The contact bodies (7) are movable stepwise relative to the first part (1) and are also displaceable perpendicularly to the displacement direction. A stepwise movement of the contact bodies (7) causes the first part (1) and the second part (3) to be displaced relative to one another in the displacement direction under the influence of a friction force present between the contact bodies (7) and the second part (3), while the first part (1) and the second part (3) are supported in an accurate position relative to one another perpendicular to the displacement direction through a displacement of the contact bodies (7) perpendicular to the displacement direction. The contact bodies (7) thus have a dual function. In a special embodiment, the contact bodies (7) have a spherical contact surface (23), the stepwise movement of the contact bodies (7) being a pure rolling motion of the spherical contact surface (23) over the second part (3). The displacement device according to the invention is used in an X-Y table provided with an object table (99) which is displaceable relative to a base (95) parallel to an X-direction and parallel to a Y-direction which is perpendicular to the X-direction by means of the displacement device. A micromotor includes a magnetic rotor fixed on a shaft. A stator has at least one winding. Bearings are provided to rotatably support the shaft relative to the stator. The bearings include a first silicon substrate having a V-groove, with a pair of bounding walls. Both bounding walls extend parallel to the shaft. The bearings also include a second silicon substrate having a third bounding wall which also extends parallel to the shaft. The shaft is positioned relative to the stator by the three bounding walls.

A further drum-shaped carrier (107) manufactured by the method is used as a carrier for a selenium layer (129) in a photocopier (109).

A bearing arrangement (15), in particular for a device (1) with a rotatable disc or a magnetic-tape apparatus (101) has a shaft (19) which is connected to an auxiliary member (23) via a hinge (21). The shaft (19) is radially supported and the auxiliary member (23) is axially supported. As a result of the connection via a hinge (21) the auxiliary member (23) can align itself without the alignment of the shaft (19) being influenced, so that the requirement imposed on the accuracy of the bearing surfaces of the shaft (19) relative to the bearing surfaces of the auxiliary member (23) can be less stringent.

A shaving apparatus comprises a housing provided with a first shaving member having a first cutting edge and with a second shaving member having a second cutting edge, which second shaving member is drivable relative to the first shaving member, the movement of the second cutting edge relative to the first cutting edge in a plane transverse to the cutting edges being composed of the movements in two main directions in this plane. The invention relates to a translation device comprising an actuator body and a coupling member which mechanically contacts said actuator body, the actuator body having at least one body of a solid electrolyte which is clamped between a pair of supporting surfaces and which is provided with at least one pair of electrodes between which mass transport takes place via the electrolyte under the influence of an electric potential difference, said mass transport causing the dimensions of the electrodes to change so that the coupling member is subject to a translation in a first coordination direction relative to a reference of the device. Preferably, AgI is used as the solid electrolyte and silver is used for the electrodes. On the basis of the above-mentioned principle, translation devices can be constructed for one, two or three-dimensional translations. Translations based on both translatory and rotatory motions are possible.

A support device for a drum (1) which is provided with two journals (57, 59) projecting from the drum on either side of the drum, whose centerlines (25, 27) substantially coincide with the centerline (9) of the drum. Each of the two journals (57, 59) is journalled around an axis of rotation (61) in a bearing bush (63, 65) which is attached to a frame (67) by a ring-shaped membrane (69) positioned in a plane transverse to the axis of rotation (61). Each of the two journals (57, 59) forms part of a shaft (17, 19) projecting into the drum (1), and attached to a shell (7) of the drum by a ring-shaped plate (11). An end of a portion of each shaft (17, 19) projecting into the drum (1) bears on adjustment devices (41, 43, 49) by which the relevant shaft (17, 19) with journal (57, 59) can be swivelled relative to the centerline (9) of the drum (1). In particular, such a support device is used for a drum (1) which serves as a rotating carrier for a plate-shaped workpiece which is to be machined accurately by a cutting tool, such as, for example, a master for the production of projection television screens.

A machine tool for machining a workpiece (11), the workpiece (11) being fastened to a support (9) which has its bearings in a frame (1) of the machine tool and is rotatable about an axis of rotation (13), while a tool (37) is movable relative to the workpiece (11) by means of a positioning device (35) provided on a carrier (17) of the machine tool. The carrier (17) is movably guided relative to the support (9) along a straight guide (23, 25) of the frame (1) in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation (13) by means of static fluid bearings (19, 21), so that a space easily accessible to an operator is created between the carrier (17) and the support (9) through displacement of the carrier (17). The carrier (17) can be coupled to the frame (1) by means of coupling members (51) provided with bolts (75), a head of each bolt (75 ) forming a piston (73) which can be moved in a cylinder (59), which is hinged to the carrier (17). In the operational condition of the machine tool, in which the workpiece (11) is machined with the tool (37), each bolt (75) is subjected to a tensile stress which is achieved through the supply of pressurized fluid to the cylinders (59), so that a particularly rigid coupling of the carrier (17) to the frame (1) is obtained. In particular, so-called masters for projection television screens in the form of circular Fresnel lenses of a comparatively large diameter are manufactured with these machine tools.

A machine tool comprising a third carriage which is guided along a circular cylindrical guide of a second carriage by means of a static fluid bearing and which can thus rotate about an axis of rotation which coincides with a centerline of the circular cylindrical guide. A working point of a tool fastened to the third carriage lies on the axis of rotation so that an angular adjustment of the tool effected by rotation of the third carriage can take place independently of a position adjustment of the working point effected by a displacement of the second carriage and a first carriage. A method of manufacturing a master for projection screens, according to which a pattern of parallel rectilinear grooves and ribs is formed on one side of a plate of machinable material by a slotting operation performed by means of a profile chisel. The grooves (33) are formed in several different tooling steps, with several grooves being tooled simultaneously. The profile chisel is of multiple construction and is composed of three subchisels, i.e. a precutting chisel, a cutting chisel (13) and a finishing chisel.
