A drive unit may include a case comprising an electric motor chamber and a gear chamber; an electric motor comprising a rotor housed in the electric motor chamber; a specific gear housed in the gear chamber; lubricant stored in the electric motor chamber and the gear chamber; and a through hole connecting the electric motor chamber and the gear chamber. An opening of the through hole on a gear chamber side may be positioned so as to face a side surface of the specific gear. A region below a center of the specific gear is defined as a lower region, a part of the lower region that is located rearward of a vertical plane passing through a center axis of the specific gear in a rotation direction of the specific gear is defined as a lower rear region, and the opening may be in the lower rear region.

Drive unit

In a catch tank, a partition wall is formed that extends along a vehicle front-rear direction and divides the catch tank in a vehicle width direction in a vehicle-mounted state, which helps prevent oil in the catch tank from flowing unevenly to one of a first space and a second space even when the oil surface of the oil tilts during turn of the vehicle, for example. As a result, an appropriate amount of oil required for lubrication is supplied through a second lubrication hole regardless of tilt of the vehicle or turn of the vehicle.

In a vehicle power transmission device including a case housing a power transmission mechanism and a cover covering a side surface of the case in a vehicle width direction, the cover includes a stepped portion with a vehicle rear-side portion projecting outward in the vehicle width direction in a horizontal cross section, a front-side extending portion extending from the stepped portion to the vehicle front side and a plate-shaped inclined rib disposed at a corner portion between the stepped portion and the front-side extending portion, and inclined toward the front-side extending portion from a leading end portion of the stepped portion to the vehicle front side.
