Managing the use of an optical disc drive by a program at high security. An OS of a host apparatussends one user certificate incorporating the policy information defining the use contents permissible for the optical disc driveand a user key to the optical disc driveunder a secure environment (S). On the other hand, the program running on the OS is authorized, and the user key is passed to the authorized program (S). The optical disc driveauthorizes the program using the user key within the user certificate and the user key for the program and specifies the policy information corresponding to the user key (S). Thereafter, the optical disc drivepermits the application program to gain access to the self-resource within the limits of the contents defined in the policy information (S).

Use management method for peripheral device, electronic system and component device thereof

A device control apparatus, comprising a processor for storing first key information, a memory section for storing encrypted second key information which is obtained by encrypting second key information such that the second key information is able to be restored through decryption using the first key information, and an interface section for carrying out authentication using the second key information when an access instruction requiring access to a device is given by the processor, and for controlling the access to the device based on the access instruction when the authentication is established.

Management of time information within a plurality of execution spaces

A plurality of copies of an information signal are prevented from being formed. For example, a transmitter such as IRD, STB, or the like transmits an information signal supplied from the outside via a radio wave or the like to each apparatus in a system. Together with a monitor, a speaker, and the like, for example, two recorders such as VTRs or the like are provided in the system. It is assumed that the recorder is executing the recording operation. The transmitter recognizes that the recorder is under the recording operation. Even if the other recorder issues a request indicating that it wants to perform the recording operation in this situation, the operation responsive to the request is not permitted. By such a management, a plurality of recorders in the network are prevented from recording the same information signal. A plurality of copies are prevented from being formed with respect to the same information signal.

Signal supplying apparatus, signal processing method and record medium

A signal recording apparatus is provided which comprises a first recording medium; a second recording medium; and a controlling means for providing a difference between a trigger sound issued when a still picture is recorded into the first recording medium and a one issued when a still picture is recorded into the second recording medium.
