A reflective liquid crystal display device is provided in which, on one of a pair of substrates opposed to each other with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, data signal lines and scanning signal lines are provided so as to cross each other, thin film transistors are provided so as to be electrically connected to the data signal lines and the scanning signal lines, reflective pixel electrodes are provided on an interlayer insulator formed so as to cover at least a part of the data signal lines, the scanning signal lines, or the thin film transistors, and the reflective pixel electrodes are electrically connected to drain electrodes of the thin film transistors, wherein an underlying film is disposed in contact with the interlayer insulator, the underlying film uniforming heat conduction and/or light transmittance between the interlayer insulator and the one of the substrates and/or contact properties of the interlayer insulator with respect to the one of the substrates in a region where at least one of the reflective pixel electrodes is formed.

A reflector includes a substrate, a plurality of convex/concave portions formed on the substrate, and a thin reflective film formed over the convex/concave portions. When light is incident upon the reflector from a certain direction, an intensity of reflected light in a viewing angle range of about &minus;45&deg; to &plus;45&deg; with respect to a regular reflection direction of the incident light 10 is about 60% or more of an intensity of light which is incident upon a standard white plate from a direction inclined by about 30&deg; from a direction normal to the plate and is reflected to the direction normal to the plate.

Reflector, method for fabricating the same and reflective liquid crystal display device incorporating the same

An object of the present invention is to provide a reflecting plate having excellent reflecting characteristics and a reflection type liquid crystal display apparatus having an improved display quality. A mask has a plurality of basic uneven spot patterns for individual pixels, and two or more uneven regions for at least one basic uneven spot pattern are formed. Any two of the two or more uneven regions appear at least in a relation of parallel displacement in which the uneven spot patterns are displaced in parallel with each other, among relations of parallel displacement, rotational displacement and reversal of uneven spot pattern, and the uneven regions are irregularly arranged. A reflecting plate and a reflection type liquid crystal display apparatus both having convexes are manufactured by an exposure of a photosensitive resin film using the mask. Even in the case where an exposure step is repeated in different positions, no seam is observed. Accordingly, even in the case of a high parallelism of an incident light, an interference color can be prevented to improve the reflecting characteristics and the display characteristics.

Reflecting plate, reflection type liquid crystal display device and processes for manufacturing same

A reflective liquid crystal display device includes a pair of transparent plates, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of plates, and a light-shielding layer provided on one of the plates. The light-shielding layer has a light-transmitting portion and a light-shielding portion. The reflective liquid crystal display device further includes a storage capacitor electrode and an insulating layer covering the light-shielding layer and the storage capacitor electrode. The insulating layer has concave and convex surfaces. The reflective liquid crystal display device further includes a reflective pixel electrode provided on the concave and convex surfaces of the insulating layer.

Liquid crystal display device with reflective electrodes and method for fabricating the same

A reflection type liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes: a first substrate having a reflective electrode formed thereon; a second substrate having a transparent counter substrate and a color filter formed thereon; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates, wherein the color filter includes a red color filter portion and a cyan color filter portion. A liquid crystal display includes a plurality of laminated liquid crystal layers and a transparent substrate interposed between the liquid crystal layers, the transparent substrate being formed of an aggregate of optical fibers arranged so that a ray may be introduced between main and back surfaces of the substrate, whereby aberration of a display image of adjacent liquid crystal layers caused by a difference of a viewing angle can be prevented.
