Wireless communications systems and methods related to downlink performance of a UE in a wireless communication network are provided. For example, method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising determining a level of interference to a reference signal received from a serving base station operating a first radio access technology (RAT) and switching, based on the determined level of interference, a radio access technology mode preference of the UE to a second RAT, the second RAT being different from the first RAT. Methods to improve user equipment performance in DSS deployments

Aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus and methods for operating the same that can improve out-of-sync and radio link failure handling in a W-CDMA network. A user equipment (UE) establishes a packet switched (PS) connection between the UE and a base station, wherein the PS connection includes a Fractional Dedicated Physical Channel (F-DPCH). The UE configures an in-sync threshold (Q) and an out-of-sync threshold (Q) for the F-DPCH, wherein values of the Qand Qare set higher than those of corresponding Qand Qof a Dedicated Physical Channel (DPCH). The UE further estimates a downlink (DL) Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) based on one or more transmit power control (TPC) commands of the F-DPCH, and determines whether to release the PS connection based on a comparison of the estimated SIR and Qof the F-DPCH.

Apparatus and method for handling out-of-sync and radio link failure with fractional DPCH calls

Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for transmitting a measurement report during wireless communications. When, for example, a low-power period (e.g., CDRX OFF period) is scheduled to begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer (TTT timer), a UE may modify the low-power period. The low-power period may be modified based, at least in part on determining the low-power period of the UE will begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer, a duration of the measurement event timer, and a duration of the low-power period. Modifying the low-power period may include delaying the start of the low-power state until after transmission of the MR associated with the measurement event timer or skipping the low-power period altogether. The UE may transmit the MR based, at least in part, on the modification.
