A folding chair includes first and second parts each having at least one leg, a total number legs of the first and second parts being at least three. A third part of the chair forms a seat and is pivotally connected to the first and second parts. A connecting assembly for pivotally connecting the first part to the second part is a piston assembly having a top end and a bottom end. The top end is pivotally connected to the first part to form a pivot at which the first part pivots relative to the second part between an open position and a closed position. The bottom end is connected to the second part. The connection between the top end and the first part forms the only physical connection between the first and second parts to eliminate cutting dangers to the user.

A support structure for foldable furniture to provide support to cross-rods or cross-members when in a crossed, open position and yet permit them to fold into a parallel, closed position. The support structure includes a body having an aperture defined by opposed surfaces and further surfaces. The cross rods or cross-members may rest on or against the further surfaces in their crossed, open position and against the opposed surfaces in their parallel, closed position.

A combination of a reinforcing grommet in a D-shape or a closed horseshoe shape and a supporting brace for holding a tensioned surface on an inclined frame element of a frame of a collapsible furniture item, such as a chair, a stool, lounger, table, a cot or a bed. A contact portion of a lower surface of the grommet rests on a brace and a remaining portion of the lower surface spans a recess in the brace. The brace is freely movable to and fro relative to the frame tube so as to minimize tearing forces.

A portable apparatus that includes fan and a harness adapted to permit the fan to be hung from a harness in a self-supported position on the wearer and which permits relocation of the fan to vary the distance of the fan from the neck of the wearer. The harness includes a cord that is looped about the wearer's neck and which passes through an adjustable coupler, whose sidewalls are configured and arranged to deform in response to squeezing forces. In response to the sidewalls being squeezed, the adjustable coupler releases the cord to permit simultaneous relative movement of the adjustable coupler along the cord. In response to removal of the squeezing forces, the adjustable coupler resiliently returns to its undeformed condition, grasping the cord to prevent relative movement of the adjustable coupler.
