An apparatus of user equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry coupled to a memory, where to configure the UE for dynamic transmit power adjustment, the processing circuitry is to decode baseband configuration information received from a base station. The baseband configuration information including at least a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), resource block (RB) allocation, and carrier assignment for uplink (UL) transmission and downlink (DL) reception. A communication mode is selected based on the baseband configuration information. An additional maximum power reduction (A-MPR) is determined based on the baseband configuration information and the selected communication mode. UL data is encoded for transmission to the base station via the selected communication mode and using transmit power adjusted based on the determined A-MPR. New signaling enhancements between the UE and the network (on a Uu interface) and between two UEs (on a PC5 sidelink interface) are also disclosed.

Dynamic transmit power adjustment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) utilizing enhanced carrier aggregation (eCA) may identify a limit to the number of channel state feedback (CSF) processes it is capable of supporting. The UE may transmit an indication of this limit to a base station, which may configure the UE for channel state reporting, and send channel state reporting triggers according to the indicated limit. The UE's determination of the limit to the number of CSF processes may be based on various transmit or receive antenna configurations. A single trigger may correspond to reports covering multiple subframes and/or component carriers. The base station may also arrange the channel state reporting configuration to reduce the peak number of channel state reports that the UE processes during each subframe. The UE may also determine that a number of channel state processes needed to support channel state reporting in a subframe exceeds its capacity. The UE may then prioritize the channel state processes and/or may transmit one or more non-current reports.

Channel state computation for enhanced carrier aggregation

Aspects of frequency error detection with Physical Broadcast CHannel (PBCH) frequency hypothesis are described. For example, a method and apparatus are disclosed for frequency tracking in a user equipment (UE) may include detecting a change in frequency that exceeds a pull-in range of a frequency tracking loop (FTL) of the UE. The method and apparatus may also include identifying a tracking recovery frequency in response to the change in frequency being detected, wherein the tracking recover frequency is identified from a set of frequency hypotheses and based on decoding of the PBCH received by the UE. The method and apparatus may further include updating the FTL with the tracking recovery frequency.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus determines a first starting index for transmitting first control information in a first search space, determines a second starting index for transmitting second control information in a second search space, and transmits the second control information in the second search space at the second starting index when the first starting index and the second starting index are not the same value. The apparatus further transmits to a user equipment (UE) control information in a first search space, receives information from the UE corresponding to the transmitted control information, and decodes the received information based on the UE parsing the control information according to the first search space and based on the UE incorrectly parsing the control information according to a second search space.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus determines a first decoding candidate in a first search space and a second decoding candidate in a second search space, where the first decoding candidate and the second decoding candidate have a same size but different definitions of information fields, identifies a difference in the information fields, and determines one of the first decoding candidate and the second decoding candidate as a valid candidate based on the identified difference. The apparatus further generates first control information for transmitting in a first search space, codes the first control information, wherein the code applied to the first control information is specific to the first search space and different from code applied to second control information in a second search space, and transmits the coded first control information in the first search space.

In wireless communication networks using carrier aggregation, a user equipment (UE) may monitor a downlink radio link quality of secondary cells for an event indicating failure of the communication link with the secondary cell. When a failure event is detected, the UE declares a failure state on the secondary cell. In response to the failure state, the UE may adjust operations related to the secondary component carrier in order to save power and resources.

Managing secondary cell connections

In a wireless communication system, carrier aggregation may be used to provide desired amounts of bandwidth, where a primary carrier and one or more secondary carriers are aggregated. At the receive side of a system in which the aggregated carriers are in a single frequency band, an amplifier may be used to apply a common gain to the aggregated carriers in the single frequency band, and the common gain may be determined as a function of indications of received signal quality associated with groups of aggregated carriers containing one or more of the aggregated carriers, where one group contains the primary carrier and possible one or more secondary carriers and another group contains only secondary carriers.

In a second configuration, an apparatus determines subframes, in a radio frame, used by one or more neighboring BSs for providing services, transmits with a first power in remaining subframes other than the determined subframes in the radio frame, determines a second power based on the first power such that a difference between the second power and the first power is less than a threshold, and transmits with the second power in a subset of symbols in the determined subframes. In a third configuration, an apparatus receives information from a BS indicating subframes, in a radio frame, used by one or more neighboring BSs for providing services, and adjusts an AGC gain based on the indicated subframes.

Managing reserved cells and user equipments in an MBSFN environment within a wireless communication system

Estimating a channel impulse response (CIR) for a wireless transmission, for example a multimedia broadcast multicast services single frequency network (MBSFN) transmission, may be performed by a receiver of an wireless subframe, without requiring operational memory in excess of what is needed for CIR estimation of unicast signaling, while providing enhanced delay spread coverage. The wireless subframe may be a MBSFN subframe. The receiver may form an aggregate vector of pilot tones extracted from an OFDM reference symbol of an wireless subframe. The receiver may subsample the aggregate vector to obtain a plurality of sub-vectors each comprising a distinct subsampling phase. The receiver may process the plurality of sub-vectors using an inverse fast Fourier transform to obtain time domain representations of each of the sub-vectors. The receiver may combine the time domain representations in various ways to obtain a CIR estimate for the wireless subframe.

Channel impulse response estimation for wireless receiver

Techniques for compensating for I-Q mismatch in a communications receiver. In an exemplary embodiment, incoming I and Q samples are adjusted by multiplying with certain compensation coefficients to generate mismatch-compensated I and Q samples. The compensation coefficients may themselves be calculated and iteratively refined from the mismatch-compensated I and Q samples. Further techniques for partitioning the adjustment and estimation functions among computational hardware are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, estimation may be restricted to only those segments of the incoming I and Q samples that fulfill certain conditions, e.g., segments of the incoming I and Q samples known to be statistically uncorrelated and/or to have equal average energy.

I-Q mismatch compensation

Techniques for performing adaptive channel estimation are described. A receiver derives channel estimates for a wireless channel based on received pilot symbols and at least one estimation parameter. The receiver updates the at least one estimation parameter based on the received pilot symbols. The at least one estimation parameter may be for an innovations representation model of the wireless channel and may be updated based on a cost function with costs defined by prediction errors. In one design, the receiver derives predicted pilot symbols based on the received pilot symbols and the at least one estimation parameter, determines prediction errors based on the received pilot symbols and the predicted pilot symbols, and further derives error gradients based on the prediction errors. The receiver then updates the at least one estimation parameter based on the error gradients and the prediction errors, e.g., if a stability test is satisfied.
