A sample support for polymer-spray mass spectrometry includes a support substrate comprising a polymer. The support substrate is configured to support a sample on a surface of the support substrate. The sample support also includes a reservoir formed on the surface of the support substrate. The reservoir is configured to hold a spray solvent.

Sample supports for solid-substrate electrospray mass spectrometry

Aspects of the disclosure include methods for analyzing an analyte composition by mass spectrometry employing a macroporous metal organic polymer matrix. In practicing methods according to certain embodiments an analyte composition is applied to a macroporous metal organic polymer matrix, a voltage is applied to the macroporous metal organic polymer matrix sufficient to produce and expel analyte ions from the macroporous metal organic polymer matrix and the analyte ions are analyzed by mass spectrometry. In other embodiments, a composition having biological macromolecules is applied onto a surface-modified macroporous metal organic polymer matrix and analytes produced by reaction (e.g., enzymatic cleavage of the biological macromolecules) at or near the surface of the macroporous metal organic polymer matrix are measured by mass spectrometry. Mass spectrometry emitters made from the subject macroporous metal organic polymer matrix, mass spectrometry systems employing macroporous metal organic polymer matrices of interest and kits suitable for practicing the subject methods are also described.

Metal organic polymer matrices and systems for chemical and biochemical mass spectrometry and methods of use thereof

A separation column is provided with a photopolymer component which, when irradiated, causes controlled porosity polymerization. A particularly preferred embodiment is wherein the separation medium is retained by a photopolymer frit, which can be reliably and reproducibly generated with controlled porosity.

Photopolymerized sol-gel column and associated methods

A mixture of chromatographic particles and a solution of water, alcohol and metal alkoxide may be injected by means of a syringe into a capillary column as a gel. The volatile components in the gel are evaporated by means of heating and gas pressure reduction to form a porous sol-gel glass matrix attached to the inner wall of the separation channel. The pores are large enough for the passage of protons, neutral and ionic species but are too small to permit significant leaching of the chromatographic particles. The separation column so formed requires no frits to maintain the glass matrix in place in the column. Electrical potential difference and/or pressure difference may be applied to cause fluid flow in the separation column to cause electrophoretic and chromatographic separation.

Separation column containing porous matrix and method of packing column

A rapid and sensitive detection method capable of reliably distinguishing fragments identical to a defined sequence from fragments containing a single base pair mismatch relative to the defined sequence. The method employs a peptide analog antisense probe, such as a peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probe, which hybridizes with DNA to forms complexes having higher thermal stability, but greater sensitivity to base pair mismatches, than corresponding DNA/DNA complexes. The method may be used in a number of applications, including genetic screening and hybridization sequencing applications.
