A method of producing an absorbent body for an absorbent article having an absorbent body disposed generally centrally of the article and adapted for absorbing liquid body waste released by the wearer includes passing a first cut-out from a first web material through a nip, passing a second web material through the nip whereby the cut-out from the first web material overlays the second web material as the cut-out and the second web material pass through the nip, and performing one of the following as the cut-out from the first web material and the second material together pass through the nip: forming a fold line in the second web material at the peripheral edge of the cut-out of the first web material and forming a second cut-out from the second web material having substantially the same shape as the first cut-out from the first web material.

Absorbent body for an absorbent article and method of producing an absorbent body

The present invention provides a method of preparing an absorbent layer from an absorbent nonwoven web having a first plurality of slits with a first orientation and a second plurality of slits with a second orientation, wherein the first orientation is different from the second orientation. The first plurality of slits and the second plurality of slits are at least partially through the absorbent nonwoven web, and the second plurality of slits at least partially intersects the first plurality to form apertures in the absorbent nonwoven web.

An absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin or an incontinence diaper, has an absorbent body having at least one fold line formed therein defining at least two segments of the absorbent body. The segments formed by the at least one fold line are generally foldable relative to each other along the at least one fold line to facilitate conformance of the absorbent article to the wearer's body. In a method of forming the absorbent body, a first cut-out from a first web material is passed through a nip along with a second web material whereby the cut-out from the first web material overlays the second web material. A fold line is then formed in the second web material at the peripheral edge of the cut-out of the first web material as the cut-out and second web material pass through the nip.

The absorbent article comprises one or more transport layers transferring fluid from the fluid-distribution layer at least into the part of the fluid-storage layer located in the front and/or rear region of the absorbent article.

Absorbent article and process for the directed drainage of fluids released in a localized manner
