Systems and methods for automated local story generation and curation are described. In one example embodiment, a server computer receives content from client devices, and processes the content to identify content characteristics. Stories are then generated based on the characteristics of the received content, and the stories are communicated to client devices. In certain embodiments, selection at a client device of an individual piece of content within a story may further be used by the system to provide the client device with a sub-story that includes pieces of content sharing content characteristics with the characteristics of the selected image or video.

Automated local story generation and curation

Systems and methods are provided for receiving, at a server computer, a plurality of content messages from a plurality of content sources, each content message comprising media content and associated with a predetermined media collection, for each of the plurality of content messages received, analyzing each of the plurality of content messages to determine a quality score for each of the plurality of content messages, and storing each of the plurality of content messages in a database along with the quality score for each of the plurality of content messages. The systems and methods further provided for receiving, from an operator device, a threshold percentage for the media collection, determining a subset of the plurality of content messages associated with the media collection to be made available to the operator device based on the threshold percentage received from the operator device and the quality score for each of the plurality of content messages, and causing only the subset of the plurality of content messages associated with media collection to be displayed on the operator device for the media collection.

Generation, curation, and presentation of media collections

A content suggestion system to generate and cause display of a set of chat suggestions based on messages received at a client device. The content suggestions system is configured to display messages that include message content at a client device, and identify content selected by a user of the client device to be included in a response to the messages received at the client device. The content suggestion system tracks and stores a number of times in which a particular pair of content appear in succession in a chat context, and calculates a ranking of the content among a set of available content. When subsequent messages that include the content of the content pair are displayed at the client device, the content suggestion system retrieves and presents a set of content as suggestions, based on the corresponding ranks.

Systems and methods are provided for receiving input increasing a default predetermined window of time that the new media collection is accessible and activating the new media collection for the increased predetermined window of time and a geographic boundary size for where media content originates. The systems and methods further cause a plurality of content messages comprising media content originating in the geographical boundary size to be included in the new media collection and displayed in response to a request from a computing device to view the new media collection based on determining the request occurs within the increased predetermined window of time that the new media collection is accessible.

Systems and methods for generating and managing stories and sub-stories presented to a user's client device are described. In one example embodiment, a server system communicates a portion of a first story to a first client device based on a first client device association with a user segment assigned to the first story. The server system receives a first selection communication associated with a first piece of content of the first story, accesses a second story based on the selection, and communicates a portion of the second story to the first client device.

The system and methods further providing for causing the plurality of content messages to be displayed on an operator device with other content messages associated with the media collection, determining that a predetermined trigger related to the media collection has been activated, updating an identifier of the media collection from a first indicator to a second indicator indicating an action needs to be taken on the media collection, and causing the updated identifier with the second indicator to be displayed on an operator device.
