A method for radio communication is described comprising receiving a millimeter wave signal via a radio communication from a transmit antenna by means of a receive antenna, wherein at least one of the transmit antenna and the receive antenna is a directional antenna with adjustable directivity, determining a reception quality of the millimeter wave signal as received by the receive antenna for a first directivity of the directional antenna, reducing the directivity of the directional antenna to a second directivity based on whether the reception quality is above a required reception quality and continuing the radio communication with the second directivity.

Methods for radio communication and communication devices

Technology for downlink signaling between an enhanced Node B (eNB) and user equipment (UE) with a selected cyclic prefix (CP) for the UE is disclosed. In an example, a user equipment (UE) can include circuitry configured to: estimate a delay spread for a corresponding channel between the eNB and the UE; communicate the estimated delay spread from the UE to the eNB to enable the eNB to determine a selected cyclic prefix (CP) length for downlink signaling; receive the selected CP length from the eNB for a transmission time interval (TTI); and process received downlink data for the TTI using the selected CP length.

A source channel encoder, source channel decoder and methods for implementing such devices are disclosed herein. The source channel encoder includes a linear transform encoder configured to generate a plurality of source components. A successive refinement quantizer is configured to generate a plurality of bit planes based on the source components. A systematic linear encoder configured to map the bit planes into channel-encoded symbols. The linear transform encoder may be configured to apply a Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) or a Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). The linear transform encoder may be configured for differential encoding.

System and method for lossy source-channel coding at the application layer

An iterative decoder for decoding a code block comprises a computation unit configured to perform forward and backward recursions over a code block or a code sub-block in each decoding iteration. A first forward/backward decoding scheme is used in a first iteration and a second forward/backward decoding scheme is used in a second iteration. The first and second decoding schemes are different in view of forward and backward processing.

Iterative decoder

A device such as a worker, window-size and iteration control unit (WWICU) is proposed. The WWICU determines processing, iteration, and window information based on format information indicative of one or more formats to be processed by a decoding process. The processing information may include a number of parallel workers, the iteration information may include a number of half-iterations, and the window information may include a window size to be used in the decoding process. The WWICU then determines time information including a total cycle count based on the processing information, the iteration information, and the window information. In response to determining that the total cycle count is not beyond a threshold value, the WWICU may transmit configuration information including the processing, iteration, and window information to a device, such as a turbo decoding device, configurable to perform the decoding process based on the configuration information.
