A protocol for providing location-based communication services in wireless sensor networks utilizes dynamic selection of forwarding devices, dynamic forwarding decisions, and intelligent backoff. Dynamic selection of forwarding devices limits the number of transmissions by dynamically selecting the devices that forward a message. Dynamic forwarding decisions implement different heuristics for different devices. According to intelligent backoff, devices that are closer to a destination region backoff for a shorter period of time than those which are further away from the destination region.

Geocast protocol for wireless sensor network

An aspect of the disclosed technology is a general-purpose platform that may be used to provide resilient cloud services. Tasks may be written as procedures in general-purpose programming languages that directly manipulate resources via control interfaces. In one implementation, resource states, such as router configurations and virtual machine states, associated with a cloud customer that provides communications services, may be abstracted into tables in a relational or semi-structured database. State changes that have been written to the database tables are automatically propagated by the database to appropriate customer physical devices, such as network elements, thereby implementing various customer network operations.

A distributed transformation network provides delivery of content from a content publisher to a content recipient. Content from the content publisher is received at an entry node of the distributed transformation network and transmitted to a transformation node in the distributed transformation network. The published content may be in an XML-based format and transformed into an XML-related format or any other structured language format as desired in the provided specification.

The method, sometimes referred to as SilkRoute, provides a general, dynamic and efficient tool for viewing and querying relational data in XML. SilkRoute can express mappings of relational data in XML that conforms to arbitrary public document type definitions. Also, SilkRoute can materialize the fragment of an XML view needed by an application and it can fully exploit the query engine of a relational database management system whenever data items in an XML view need to be materialized.

An apparatus and method for efficiently processing a database. A structure of the database is constructed into a schema which only includes those structures of the database that are known. Desired information to be extracted from the database is specified using path expressions and an automaton models the path expression. A composite automaton is generated based on the automaton and the schema. The composite automaton is pruned and portions of the database corresponding to the pruned automaton is searched to obtain the desired information. Points within the database may be identified to begin searching for the desired information. These points correspond to states of the composite automaton. A hybrid automaton may be formed for each set of possible starting states to determine completeness by simulating the hybrid automaton against the composite automaton.

An integrated view is created according to the information definition query. A site definition query is received for defining a site view for the non-uniform information at the web-site. The site view is created according to the site definition query. The non-uniform information is then presented on the web-site, typically in the form of a HTML document.
