Catheter force control device

A catheter force control system including: a hand-held catheter force control device including: a base sized to be hand-held; a cover reversibly fastened to the base in a closed position; a sheath clamp coupled to the base, the sheath clamp capturing a sheath handle to immobilize the sheath handle relative to the base, the sheath clamp is an aperture formed in corresponding abutting edges of the cover and the base, the aperture being formed when the cover and the base are in the closed position; a catheter clamp capturing a catheter, a remote end of the catheter configured to deliver an ablation therapy; the catheter clamp aligned to be substantially co-axial with the sheath clamp; and a linear actuator effecting linear motion of the catheter clamp relative to the sheath clamp; a force sensor located at the remote end of the catheter, the remote end configured for contact with a target tissue, the force sensor detecting real-time contact force data; a controller for receiving the real-time contact force data and for generating and communicating a control signal to the linear actuator to minimize a difference between the real-time contact force data and a preset desired contact force during ablation therapy delivery to the target tissue, the control signal adjusting a position of the linear actuator to compensate for a disturbance of the remote end contact with the target tissue.

A hand-held catheter force control device includes an elongate base sized to be hand-held. The base defines a longitudinal axis between first and second opposing longitudinal ends. A linear actuator is mounted to the base to provide linear motion substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base. A sheath clamp is coupled to the base. The sheath clamp is sized to fixedly capture a sheath handle. A catheter clamp is coupled to the linear actuator. The catheter clamp is sized to fixedly capture a catheter, and is aligned to be substantially co-axial with the sheath clamp. Systems and methods can incorporate the catheter force control device.

3D printing in MRI-compatible plastic resin has been used to fabricate and implement a geometric distortion phantom for MRI and CT imaging. The sparse grid structure provides a rigid and accurate phantom with identifiable intersections that are larger than the supporting members, which produces images that are amenable to fully automated quantitative analysis using morphometric erosion, greyscale segmentation and centroiding. This approach produces a 3D vector map of geometric distortion that is useful in clinical applications where geometric accuracy is important, either in routine quality assurance or as a component of distortion correction utilities.

Method and apparatus for measuring 3D geometric distortion in MRI and CT images with a 3D physical phantom

To perform Dixon MRI, generate multi-contrast images, and extract multi-parametric maps, this invention presents a multi-echo gradient echo protocol with two sets of echo trains. An example implementation of the invention at 3 T acquires a short-TE train (&#x394;TE&#x2dc;1.2 ms, TE&#x3c;10 ms), which is used to map B0 inhomogeneity and proton density fat fraction (FF), and a second&#x2014;susceptibility sensitive&#x2014;long-TE train (16 ms&#x3c;TE&#x3c;45 ms) will enable quantification of local frequency shift (LFS) and susceptibility. The presented pipeline automatically generates co-registered images and maps with/without fat-suppressed, including magnitude- and complex-based FF map, B0 map, anatomical images, brain mask, R2* map, unwrapped phase maps for each echo, susceptibility-sensitive images (SWI, LFS and quantitative susceptibility) for each echo, mean susceptibility-sensitive images for each echo-train. The invention is directly applicable to whole head/neck, liver, knee or even whole body scans with sliding table.

Method for dixon MRI, multi-contrast imaging and multi-parametric mapping with a single multi-echo gradient-recalled echo acquisition

Embodiments relate to systems and methods for catheter manipulation. In particular, systems as described herein can be used to drive a catheter while maintaining control along three degrees of freedom. Systems as described herein can be used in a wide variety of settings, including MRI in which small, non-magnetic robot systems having motors that remain stationary during use are advantageous.

System for catheter manipulation

Various embodiments of the present disclosure present unwrapping based B0 mapping systems and methods. An initial B0 map is obtained by unwrapping a pseudo-in-phase complex data that is generated from selected echoes of multi-echo gradient echo image data. Global and local phase errors that are present in the initial B0 map are corrected to produce a phase-error-corrected B0 map. A bias frequency shift is employed to produce a corrected fat-fraction map based on the phase-error-corrected B0 map. The corrected fat-fraction map is employed to generate a final B0 map.

A method of controlling an ultrasonic motor coupled to a motor driver circuit, comprises receiving a temperature signal representing the temperature of the ultrasonic motor, receiving a position signal output by a first encoder representing the position of the ultrasonic motor, calculating an error between the position of the ultrasonic motor represented by the position signal and a target position, calculating a control signal based on the temperature of the ultrasonic motor represented by the temperature signal and the calculated error, and sending the control signal to the motor driver circuit to control the ultrasonic motor.

A method for controlling an ultrasonic motor coupled to a motor driver circuit, comprises obtaining a position of a first encoder coupled to the ultrasonic motor, calculating an error between the position of the first encoder and a target position, and sending a control signal to the motor driver circuit to control the ultrasonic motor to adjust the position of the first encoder based the calculated error.

Control system for ultrasonic motors

A technique for pulsed-injection of radiographic contrast agent uses a pressurized source of contrast agent interrupted by a rotary valve at rates ranging from 1 to 30 Hz. This produces well-defined boli at the end of the catheter. The position of these boli is recorded by a digital radiographic system and analyzed to produce quantitative measurements of blood velocity and flow rate throughout the cardiac cycle.
