Provided is an image reader including a transparent plate that supports an original document on which an image is recorded, a reading member that is disposed inside a housing and reads an image of the original document supported by the transparent plate while moving, a guide member that extends in a movement direction of the reading member and guides the moving reading member, and an endless belt that is wound around a driving pulley that performs rotational driving and a driven pulley that is driven to rotate, the endless belt being rotated around the driving pulley and the driven pulley to move the reading member guided by the guide member, wherein at least one of the driving pulley and the driven pulley is attached to the guide member.

Image reader and image forming apparatus

An image reading device includes a first and second document tables, a document transport member, and a reading unit. The first document table supports a document sheet. The second document table adjacent to the first document table allows the document sheet to pass therethrough while the document sheet is kept separate from the second document table. The reading unit, which reads the document sheet, includes a movement unit movable relative to the first and second document tables. At least one of positions of the first document table, the second document table, and a position where the document sheet is transported is set so as to cause an optical path length between the reading unit and the document sheet passing through the second document table to correspond to an optical path length between the reading unit and the document sheet supported by the first document table.

Image reading device and image forming apparatus

An image reading apparatus includes a reading apparatus body, an accommodation member, and a positioning member. The reading apparatus body reads a document mounted on a document platen. The accommodation member accommodates the reading apparatus body and moves from one end portion to the other end portion of the document when reading the document. The positioning member is mounted on the reading apparatus body, the positioning member having a convex section positioning the reading apparatus body in a height direction by coming into contact with the document platen and an engaging section engaging with an engaged section formed in the accommodation member in the height direction.
