An image forming apparatus has an image reading portion sequentially generating image data of pages, a printing portion sequentially printing, a discharge portion sequentially discharging printed sheets, and a control portion making the discharge portion discharge the printed sheets to a set discharge position. The control portion detects the page numbers of a precedent read page and of a subsequent read page and sets, when the page numbers are not consecutive, the discharge position of the printed sheet corresponding to the subsequent read page to a different position from the discharge position of the printed sheet corresponding to the precedent read page.

The time measurement circuit measures a condensation removal time taken to complete the condensation removal of the specific condensation removal pattern. An image forming apparatus includes: a transfer unit, a reflectance sensor, a time-series data acquiring unit, and a transfer-unit rotation-time calculating unit. The time-series data acquiring unit is configured to acquire time-series data with respect to the image carrier background-portion reflectance, measured by the reflectance sensor, as reference data over a time period twice longer than a time period that by design the image carrier requires for one cycle, and as advance/delay data over a time period twice longer than a time period longer or shorter in multiples of a predetermined time interval than the by-design time period. The transfer-unit rotation-time calculating unit is configured to calculate a one-cycle-time calculation value that is the time actually required for one cycle of the image carrier, based on the reference data and the advance/delay data acquired by the time-series data acquiring unit.

A cumulative time measuring section measures a cumulative total time of an image formation operation. A time determination section determines whether or not the cumulative total time exceeds a predetermined period of time. A control section controls, upon determination that the cumulative total time exceeds the predetermined period of time and the sheet interval exceeds the reference period of time, the stabilization section to perform the stabilization during the sheet interval exceeding the reference period of time.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a curling correction portion, a curling direction determination portion, and a rotation control portion. The image forming portion forms an image on a recording medium. The curling direction determination portion determine a direction of curling in a recording medium in which images forms on both surfaces thereof, based on an image density of each of both surfaces of the recording medium in which the images forms on both surfaces thereof. The rotation control portion is configured to rotate the curling correction portion such that the curling correction portion is set in an orientation for correcting the curling that has occurred in the recording medium, in a direction opposite to the direction of the curling determined by the curling direction determination portion.

An image forming apparatus according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes an image forming portion, a curling correction portion, and a speed control portion. The image forming portion forms an image on a recording medium. The curling correction portion has one pair of rollers composed of members that respectively have different elasticities and are pressed against each other, and corrects curling that has occurred in the recording medium after image formation performed thereon by the image forming portion, by conveying the recording medium sandwiched with the roller pair. An image forming apparatus includes an endless belt, an index provided at part of an end edge of the belt, a detecting member, a processing unit, and a storage unit. The detecting member changes an output value thereof based on the passing states of the index and the end edge of the belt in a detection area of the detecting member. The processing unit processes the output value and determines whether the index is present in the detection area by comparing the present output value with a threshold value. The storage unit stores the processed output value. The processing unit acquires a reference value based on the stored output value. The processing unit, when determining whether the index is present in the detection area, sets as the threshold value a value obtained by changing the most recently acquired reference value by a predetermined value.
