A sensing device can be used for ambulatory urodynamics. The sensing device can include an elongated outer housing constructed of flexible material that can curve within a patient's bladder. At least a portion of the outer housing can be filled with a non-compressible fluid. A flexible printed circuit board can be disposed within the outer housing to curve with the outer housing. The printed circuit board can include a pressure sensor, comprising a diaphragm, to collect pressure data; a microcontroller running control software; and a wireless transmitter to transmit the pressure data. A battery can be disposed within the outer housing and coupled to the printed circuit board. The flexible material of the outer housing is configured to be displaced by a pressure within the patient's bladder, the displacement is transmitted through the non-compressible fluid to the pressure sensor that provides the pressure data based on the displacement.

Sensing device for ambulatory urodynamics having a pressure sensitive housing

Systems and methods are provided for providing a standardized pressure value representing a transient pressure event within a region of interest within a living body. An air-charged catheter is configured to record pressure data representing the region of interest. A measurement assembly includes a parameter calculation component configured to calculate at least a peak pressure representing the transient pressure event and a time to peak pressure, representing the time necessary to reach the peak pressure, from the recorded pressure data. A standardization component is configured to calculate the standardized pressure value as a function of the peak pressure and the time to peak pressure. A user interface is configured to display at least the standardized pressure value at an associated display.

The present disclosure relates generally to using detected bladder events for the diagnosis of urinary incontinence or the treatment of lower urinary tract dysfunction. A system includes a sensing device comprising a pressure sensor to directly detect a pressure within a bladder. The sensing device is adapted to be located within the bladder. The system also includes a signal processing device to: receive a signal indicating the detected pressure within the bladder; detect a bladder event based the detected pressure within the signal; and characterize the bladder event as a bladder contraction event or a non-contraction event. The characterization of the bladder event can be used in the diagnosis of urinary incontinence or the treatment of lower urinary tract dysfunction.

A sensing device can be placed within the colon to study bowel function. The sensing device can include a flexible printed circuit board that includes at least one senor configured to record data related to bowel activity from a patient's colon; and a wireless transmitter configured to send the data from the patient's colon to an external device. The sensing device can also include at least one mucosal clip configured to fix the sensor board to a wall of the patient's colon for a measurement period. The flexible printed circuit board and/or the at least one mucosal clip are configured to be passed from the patient's colon after the measurement period through normal defecation.

Wireless bowel sensor

The present disclosure relates generally to estimating an interior diameter of a hollow organ. As such, one aspect of the present disclosure relates to a system that can include a light-based distance sensor and a device housing the light-based distance sensor located within the hollow organ. The light-based distance sensor can include an emitter and a detector. The emitter can transmit a conical beam of light to an inner surface of a hollow organ. The detector can receive a portion of the light back-reflected from the inner surface of the hollow organ. The device can determine a volume of the hollow organ based on a signal related to the back-reflected portion of the light, which can be based on a distance between the light-based distance sensor and the inner surface of the hollow organ.

Systems and methods for estimating a volume of a hollow organ

Systems and methods are provided for in vivo measurement of pressure. An implantable sensor assembly includes a pressure sensor configured to provide an analog signal representing pressure and a signal conditioning component configured to convert the pressure sensor output into a digital signal. A transmitter is configured to transmit the digital signal to an external base unit. A power control unit is configured to dynamically allocate power throughout the implantable sensor assembly, such that during an active measurement interval of the implantable sensor assembly, each of the pressure sensor, the signal conditioning component, and the transmitter are powered only for a portion of the active measurement interval necessary to perform a related function.

One aspect of the present disclosure can include a therapeutic composition useful for treatment of a genitourinary disorder. The composition can be derived from a culture media having been in contact with a population of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells for a sufficient time period necessary to endow therapeutic activity in the culture media. The therapeutic property endowed to the culture media is the ability to promote structural and functional recovery of a dysfunctional organ or biological tissue associated with the genitourinary disorder.
