An electrical connector includes a circular housing having a cavity configured to receive a mating connector. The housing holds power terminals in the cavity. The housing has a mating end having a generally circular cross-section. The housing has a flexible latch at the mating end configured to engage a latch of the mating connector. The flexible latch has a pull hook extending therefrom. A release collar is slidably coupled to the housing at the mating end in an axial direction between a forward position and a rearward position. The release collar has an actuator ramp facing the pull hook. The actuator ramp engages the pull hook to actuate the flexible latch to release the flexible latch from a latch of the mating connector as the release collar is moved in the axial direction to the rearward position.

An electrical connector includes a housing holding power terminals and having a mating end with a flexible latch configured to engage a latch of a mating connector. The flexible latch includes a pull hook extending therefrom. A release collar is slidably coupled to the housing in an axial direction between a forward position and a rearward position. The release collar has an actuator ramp facing the pull hook. The actuator ramp engages the pull hook to actuate the flexible latch to release the flexible latch from the latch of the mating connector as the release collar is moved to the rearward position. The housing includes a locking finger engaging the release collar to lock the release collar in the forward position. The release collar is unlocked from the locking finger to move to the rearward position.

A low profile electrical connector includes a connector body having a top, a bottom and opposite sides. The connector body has a width defining a width profile and a height defining a height profile of the connector body. The electrical connector includes a latch extending from the connector body. The latch has a first latch, a second latch and an actuator operably connected to the latches. The first and second latches are positioned along the first and second sides. The actuator extends along the top and is actuated downward to deflect the first and second latches from latching positions to released positions. The first and second latches are positioned below the top and above the bottom such that the first and second latches are entirely contained within the height profile of the connector body.

Low profile electrical connector

A connector assembly for installing a device to a ceiling grid, the ceiling grid having conductors provided therein. The connector assembly includes a housing with contact arms mounted in the housing. Contact portions of the contact arms extend from the housing and are placed in electrical engagement with the conductors when the connector assembly is mated with the ceiling grid. Mounting members extend from the housing. Mounting sections of the mounting members are placed in mechanical engagement with the ceiling grid to provide a mechanical connection between the ceiling grid and the connector assembly. A polarity protection/correction member is provided in the housing. The polarity protection/correction member protects the device from failure or damage when the polarity orientation of the device does not match the polarity orientation of the conductors of the grid.

Connector assembly with polarity correction/protection

A connector assembly for installation on a ceiling grid having conductors therein. Contacts are mounted in a housing of the connector, with the contacts having contact portions. Mounting members are mounted in the housing, with the mounting members having grid mounting sections. A cam member is provided in the housing, with the cam member being movable between a first position and a second position. As the cam member is moved from the first position to the second position, the cam member biases the contact portions of the contacts into electrical engagement with the conductors of the ceiling grid and biases the grid mounting sections of the mounting members into mechanical engagement with the ceiling grid to provide a mechanical connection between the ceiling grid and the connector.

Connector for electrified ceiling grid

A connector, an electrified grid element and the combination. First and second contacts with first and second contact portions are secured in the housing of the connector. The second contact portion is offset from a first surface of the connector a greater distance that the first contact portion. An electrified grid has a first conductor and a second conductor, with the first conductor having an opposite polarity to the second conductor. A first insulator member is positioned proximate the first conductor and a second insulator member is positioned proximate the second conductor. The first and second insulator members prevent the mating of the connector to the electrified grid unless the connector is properly oriented in the electrified grid, thereby insuring proper polarity between the connector and the electrified grid.
