There is disclosed an electronic testbed, an electronic testbed board, and a method for positioning receptacles for nails in the electronic testbed board. In an embodiment, the electronic testbed board includes a mounting through-hole for mounting a receptacle for a nail. The mounting through-hole is drilled to a suitably precise diameter for mounting the receptacle substantially perpendicular to the testbed board. One or more via-holes are located adjacent the mounting through-hole, and are adapted to allow an electrical connection between any conductive layers provided at the one or more via-holes. The receptacle may be mounted more accurately and the electronic test bed may be built more accurately by separating the functions of the via-holes and the mounting through-hole.

A method is for calibrating a contrast offset value for an LCD contrast control system in a mobile device. The method includes the steps of adjusting a user contrast setting on the mobile device to a desired optimal value, initializing the contrast offset value, determining a contrast ratio of the LCD, and incrementing the contrast offset value until the contrast ratio reaches a peak value.

A method of producing an electronic device including: preparing the test fixture, for testing the electronic device; placing the electronic device using the at least one device positioning guide disposed on the device receiving surface; and placing the device retention cover upon the electronic device to apply a force to the electronic device.

A fixture for functional testing of an assembled wireless device, the wireless device having a data port and a removable casing concealing a battery cavity having battery contacts, the fixture comprising: a base having an opening formed therein for receiving a retainer, the retainer being rotatably mounted in the opening for rotating from a first position to a second position, the retainer for receiving the wireless device with the removable casing removed while in the first position; a connector mounted in the retainer for engaging the data port of the wireless device when the wireless device is received by the retainer in the first position; and, a battery emulator insert rotatably mounted on the base, the battery emulator insert having power contacts for engaging the battery contacts in the battery cavity of the wireless device when the retainer is rotated to the second position.

A system and method for achieving optimal display contrast in a mobile communication device is provided. The system includes a memory device, a processor, a display driver, and a display. A user contrast setting is stored in the memory device, wherein the user contrast setting is selected from a range of user contrast settings. The processor includes an operating system that is configured to retrieve the user contrast setting from the memory device, convert the user contrast setting into a hardware contrast setting, and save the hardware contrast setting to a memory location. The display driver retrieves the hardware contrast setting from the memory location and generates a contrast control voltage as a function of the hardware contrast setting. The display is coupled to the contrast control voltage and has a variable contrast ratio, wherein the variable contrast ratio of the display is controlled by the contrast control voltage.
