Apparatus and associated methods relate to a Metered-Commodity Consumption Meter (MCCM) utilizing a rotationally occluded optical beam to simultaneously measure flow/consumption and verify operational integrity. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, an existing MCCM may be retrofit by sealably attaching a module containing an optical system which may generate one or more optical beams. Each optical beam may have a defined optical path originating from an optical source and terminating at an optical sensor within the module. In an exemplary embodiment, a Rotational Retrofit Member (RRM) may be attachable to a rotational metering gear responsive to a flow/consumption of the metered commodity. The RRM may have an occluding blade which may partially occlude the optical beams periodically when the RRM rotates. In various embodiments, the MCCM may be retrofit to make the measurement of the metered commodity impervious to external magnetic fields.

Passive entry sensor systems and associated sensors are disclosed. The system sensor is locatable in the handle of a door or like structure and can provide an electromagnetic radiation beam transmitted either along the length of the handle between opposite ends thereof or between the handle and the door such that the sensor can detect at least a partial interruption of the beam by a user actuating the handle. The system can include an independent optical locking switch for actuation by a user to lock the door which locking switch comprises a shutter for intercepting the beam so as to flag the sensor. The system can include a power-up switch for actuation by a user to power-up the system, back-up switches for detecting a pull on the handle, indicators for indicating system status to the user, and backlight and ground light lighting.

A keyless access sensor system for use with a keyless access control mechanism (KACM) is described for controlling the operation of a locking device. The KACM receives a signal from a sensor device for keyless access to create a first output signal before the user has begun any action on the handle in order to open the door. The first output signal is sent to a general processor, which initiates a recognition process and, after recognition of the authorized user the processor then generates an unlocking signal which unlocks the locking device before the authorized user will have fully accomplished the action of opening the door. Thus the authorized user is allowed to open the door without any specific un-ergonomic and time-consuming additional action to the simple action of actuating the handle to open the door. The second signal is generated by a device, such as a fob, card or the like, carrying a unique digital or analog identification in response to RF or IR interrogation from the general processor after it receives the output signal from the sensor device for keyless access.

An object detection system is provided that projects one or more patterns onto a monitored area, captures one or more live images of the monitored area, and detects objects that enter the monitored area by detecting changes in the one or more patterns in the live images. Such an object detection system may be less susceptible to dynamic lighting conditions, and more sensitive to object motion and/or presence.

An integrated light-transmission optical module for a safetyoptoelectronic barrier, comprises a condenser element having a first lens, and an objective having a second lens which are located respectively at a first end and a second end. The module comprises a single-piece entity made of transparent material, and having an intermediate zone provided with deflectors formed by a succession of dioptric surfaces distributed along the direction of light flux propagation between the first lens and the second lens. The deflectors ensure a deflection outside the optical module of stray rays reflected inside the module, so as to prevent transmission of strays rays, either through the second lens of the objective if it is a light transmission coming from the condenser element, or through the first lens when receiving light coming from the second lens.
