An antenna monitoring unit for monitoring an RF transmission line and RF signal path to an antenna unit used in a distributed antenna system in a structure. The antenna is DC isolated from the RF transmission line through a current injector, allowing testing by sending a code from a base station to a remote antenna location and using a monitoring module to confirm reception of the code and transmit data to the base station relating to the antenna unit.

Antenna status remote monitoring system

An antenna unit for monitoring the RF transmission line and RF signal path to an antenna unit used in a distributed antenna system. The antenna has a resistor connected to ground, and a DC injector including a capacitor having a first side connected to an RF transmission line and a second side connected to the antenna, with a first inductor coupled between the resistor and the monitoring module.

A tapered airline directional coupler includes a housing having a length with an input end and an output end, the housing having a slot formed therein extending between the input end and the output end. The coupler also includes a main conductor in electrical communication with an input port connector mounted on the housing at the input end thereof and with an output port connector mounted on the housing at the output end thereof, and a coupled conductor in electrical communication with and extending between a forward coupling port connector mounted on the housing adjacent to the input end thereof and a reverse coupling port connector mounted on the housing adjacent to the output end thereof. Each of the slot, the main conductor and the coupled conductor has a cross-sectional area that varies depending upon where the cross-section is taken along the length of the housing.

Tapered airline directional coupler

A termination configured to absorb high microwave power while generating low levels of passive intermodulation interference. The termination includes a microwave cable having a first end and a second end providing an insertion loss from the first end to the second end, a heat-dispersive element in thermal contact with at least a portion of the microwave cable, a channel accommodating the microwave cable, and an input connector coupled to the proximal end of the microwave cable. Optionally, one or more plates having grooves to accommodate the microwave cable may be provided between the heat-dispersive elements.

High power, low-passive intermodulation microwave termination

A dual directional coupler includes a housing, a main conductor, a forward coupled conductor and a reverse coupled conductor. The main conductor, the forward coupled conductor and the reverse coupled conductor are arranged in parallel within the housing such that the main conductor and the forward coupled conductor define a first two section quarter wave directional coupler, and the main conductor and the reverse coupled conductor define a second two section quarter wave directional coupler.

Dual directional coupler with multi-stepped forward and reverse coupling rods

A high power, non-directional tap coupler having low loss and expanded bandwidth using a novel airline coaxial line structure. Each of the main and secondary conductors forms a concentric structure of constant dimension over a substantial length inside a metallic housing. The coupled port conductor is connected perpendicularly at the middle point to the secondary conductor. The conductors form a novel structure in which coupling remains relatively constant over a broadband frequency range and main line VSWR remains low. The result is a non-directional tap coupler with a wideband operational frequency, a reduced physical size, and low loss and with good PIM performance.

Broadband non-directional tap coupler

A high power, TEM mode directional microwave coupler having low loss and expanded bandwidth uses novel thick suspended substrate conductors to provide multi-octave bandwidth performance in a practical package. Each of two center conductors is formed using metal layer deposited onto three surfaces of a thick dielectric substrate. The conductors, which can be edge-coupled or offset-coupled, form a novel structure in which the non-metallized side of the substrate is oriented toward the facing outside vertical walls. This effectively reduces the effect of the package wall on the coupling structure, permitting a smaller, constant-width dimension, which in turn raises the waveguide cut-off frequency. The result is a directional coupler with an extended high frequency performance, with reduced physical size and low loss.
