A pivotable vehicle component is usable as a load or pass-through in a vehicle seat and include a pivotable latch which prevents the pivotable component from being unlatched from a force being applied by luggage (or other objects) during rapid decelerations such as in a crash.

Backrest lid

An actuating system for a head restraint of a vehicle seat is provided. The head restraint includes a part that can be shifted from a comfort position to a safety position, such as in the event of an accident. Limbs are expandable from an initial position as a consequence of pressure loading to bring about a lengthening which can be transmitted to force transmission means. The limbs are connected to one another and/or to fastening means by joints, each having a first and a second joint pin which can be inserted axially into holes to form the joints.

Actuating means for a crash-active head restraint

A vehicle seat, in particular a rear seat bench for a motor vehicle, has a seat part and a backrest which is provided with displaceable side cushions. Their position can be changed as a function of the position of the backrest. According to the invention, at least the backrest is arranged in the vehicle in a manner such that it can be displaced in or counter to the direction of travel, wherein the position of the side cushions located on the outside of the backrest can be forcibly changed as a function of the sliding position of the backrest.
